Personally when Mark was talking about Clans owning servers and owning specific pieces of content, that has no interest to me or my community.
We're a peaceful community that likes to keep ourselves to ourselves and swat away the advances of trolls just as other Clans do; we're not wanting to get into OSRS DMM shenanigans.
What we do want is just more beneficial updates to make general Clan life easier and more appealing to be a part of
(that doesn't involve being a knob)
so I certainly hope their update plans are talked thoroughly through with the majority us and not
"Oh we assumed you wanted this based upon the feedback of talking to just one of our favourite clans"
.
I'm still holding out and thinking this is a positive thing for Clans to come.

Are you kidding me ??? We have been promised improvements for years now this isn't new news to some of us!! my clans been around for almost 8 years once a vibrant and active clan has turned into the biggest friends chat the game is too afk! the game is to intense no one pays attention to cc discord and other communications have taken away from that in game feel of what really this game use to be!
I am not even going to sugar coat it anymore don't expect anything or have hopes it's a constant let down!
Yep. But we use Discord because RS lacks the capabilities.
But the CC is still utilized for those that can't/won't use Discord.
And we also have social media outlets, but they're just optional things.
How you run your clan determines whether you use those or not, not the game.
The clan community suffers because of 'instant gratification syndrome'.
People want something "new", NOW, just to get their mental jollies off.
But after that, they go right back to complaining for something "newer".
Older content that's revised could become that something "newer", but JAGeX develops new things, instead of being wise and re-hashing old content to be up to date....
(Minigames, Citadels, etc... Ahem.) There's INFINITE ways I can think of to better integrate these into the flow of the entire game, and I'm sure they could to. But actually doing it? Haha. Not thus far.
Clan:
I feel like some of the things clans have been asking for and wanting in game so we don't have to use 3rd party providers, they assume most if not all of us already are using 3rd party providers anyway for our clans and don't try to implement those things into the game itself because of that. Which, idk, I get the point WHY try to provide it if clans have adapted to what is probably already a better system than what they can provide at this point due to the neglect in providing it, but at the same time...it isn't encouraged to use 3rd party providers for things in the game rules for botting etc so why not blow competition games out of the water with providing such things directly related for the game itself, even if it is an add on tool or site for clans that is directly affiliated with Jagex. Either that or if they don't want to focus on providing us what we've been forced to adapt to for the health of maintaining clans in the game, then they really need to start providing the things 3rd party systems don't or can't provide for clans that would help them and fix the in game parts of clans that cause the most conflict.
I've heard a few good ideas float around to the later part, in game fixes and reworks, but nothing official or given date to release. They do cover the hot debate topics that have come up in clans for years, which is good....when/if it happens lol.

Also, a concern I have, is that discussion about clan updates is now more on the side of the privately owned "Clan Leaders Discord" and that the voices of those who rely on this forum as their platform will go unheard.
Additionally, many excellent clan leaders do not register even for this forum. We have seen it happen before, that more private and personal discussions with Jmods, such as those happening within the Clan Leaders Discord and that have happened with personal fc's and twitters etc, can win out over community consensus. Let's please try to avoid it happening again or at least be aware that its a thing.
Sadly, we can't do anything for those that don't wish to use the tools they have available for them currently to voice representation, except encourage them to do so.
Even in my irl profession we have a nation wide organization that lobbies political parties to protect our rights in providing ethical professional treatment for the benefit of the general population and communities as a whole since political parties don't always understand what we do and why we do it... but again the organization can only claim they represent certain % of the whole profession when lobbying which means encouraging others in the profession to join gives the profession a better representation as a whole indirectly toward their individual benefit, however all that gets confusing so many don't understand the benefit to themselves.
Clan leaders aren't that much different, they should come represent their clan and clans as a whole for the betterment of the game community. Also I can understand the concern if the "clan leader discord" is having more sway since it has a low % of representation for clans and clan representatives as a whole. All that tells me if it holds more sway is how outdated the non-private owned methods are that Jagex is providing us. :/
/\
^My statement isn't to start conflict over the "clan leader discord" btw, if that is a source of representation that is being considered, why not use it. Just stating the clf has more representation and is not privately owned or 3rd party provided, so it really should have more sway.

The problem I see whenever they mention clan updates, or frankly even when I see it mentioned in the Clan Leader Discord or from other leaders is a lack of substance. And don't get me wrong, I'm very guilty of it myself. It just seems that people want to improve this general idea of clans, but that the discussions of what the meat of that deal is where things get stuck.
One persons idea is to tackle the citadel, another more group content, another streamlining how clans themselves work, etc etc. And while a wide variety of opinions and ideas is fantastic to see, there clearly aren't the resources there or being allocated for that kind of effort. I think even with the JMod comments that I've seen, it's getting stuck on the 'what' part. They recognize clans are important to many people and would like to improve the social aspect, but what do you actually do?
It's a question I get stuck on too. Improving the bts parts of clans is something I'd love, but does that bring a fancy update to most people? I'd love an expansion or rework of the citadel, but do most even interact with it? Would they even go beyond like once a week for avatar buff?
I don't know. I'd really like to see promising clan updates in 2018, but I'm struggling to come up with great ideas, and it seems like that's their stumbling block too. And maybe I just need to be more active here to find more of those
making an effort!
I'm in no condition to post. Wait a minute - I don't have to listen to myself! I'm drunk

OMG Not A Puppet I used to have that motto, I love it. I left clf discord today. I agree very much with what you say also.
I still see the Clan Leader Forums as a main type of communication between members. In my opinion, clf discord is more of an social area for clan leaders. However, the discord is useful as a platform to quickly get opinions.

I'm not so worried about the MTX part as we've had it for some amount of years now and I understand the economic reasons for it.
The part about putting content to a Poll
(Clans won't get chosen over other updates lets face it)
nevermind the complete lack of Clan Updates mention at the bottom is a bit troubling from initial reading here.
