As many of you are aware, on the last game update, clan members whom are also on your friends list now show as green instead of orange on the minimap.

This update was put in a poll in April 2018 and forgotten about until the last game update.
I've seen people question the wording of the original poll, and how it can and has been easily mis-interpreted to mean something else (the something else being something so trivial I don't think anyone would care about it).

Mod Shauny (who himself isn't a fan of this) explained to the dev that made the change the complaints he's received about the update, and asked if it can be undone. The dev said that was ok but needed to explain the issue to someone else (presumably higher up) so they can understand why as well.

Long story short that person said no (because the poll passed by a large amount) so we're stuck with it for the forseeable future.

I thank Shauny for trying to get it undone for us, but I hope that it isn't just swept under the rug and our opinions forgotten about. A similar thing happened in the past, where our opinions were ignored (mind you, that was changing one of the fundamentals of how clans work(long time CLF'ers will know what I'm referring to)

Why does Shauny seem to be the only person on the RS3 team that understands clans and what is/isn't good for them. Because from what I can see, the higher-up slammed the door in his face because of a result from a badly worded poll that happened 8 months ago.

I refer to it as 'Death of the orange dot' because many clan leaders I've have conversations with and members within their clans have the majority, if not all of the clans active members on their friends list.

Being able to tell if you have a clan member added as a friend is as simple as:
Right clicking their name in the chatbox.
Right clicking their name in the clan chat tab.
Looking at your friends list

Which is why I personally see this change as pointless.
Being able to differentiate between a clan member and a friend not in your clan should be easy to do at a glance. It's not as easy at a glance now.

Since I have most of my clan members added as friends, this update makes it feel like the orange clan dot was removed from the game . I'm surprised that a majority of players supported this in the poll, but I can see how the question could be misinterpreted. I'm also surprised that this update doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere in the Patch Notes or News Post from this week. (please correct me if I missed it somewhere)

It seems most players typically don't vote in favor of any clan updates anyway, which can easily be seen by the low support clan updates mentioned in other polls have received. If anything, this update hurts clans because it removes a feature that differentiates clan members from other friends on your Minimap. I'm unable to see how this update was beneficial for clans or players who belong to clans.

Oh good, i was about to question this green dot when i just logged on and seen a clan member who had a green dot but now understand, glad i came here and saw this post otherwise i would have gone over to CLD and put in a complaint there along with reporting a bug / glitch but clearly its not even that, sigh

This is the most dumbest idea Jagex came up with, and not even mentioning it in the patch notes or anything,

Thumbs Down on this orange dot removal if clan member is added to friend list .

Why can't we just choose in preferences whether we wish to see orange dots or prefer to have that superseded with green dots? It seems like the poll could be fulfilled simply by giving people the choice in preferences rather than changing it for everyone with no option to revert.

Also, why was this even a binding poll in the first place? This has been one of many concerns with the way polls have been conducted in the past... a majority can vote to change rather important things with little understanding of the consequences of the issue and no recourse for those affected. Yikes..

I also noticed that one of the questions in this poll series is "Question 13 of 15

Should we make it so that players on your ignore list are unable to view your online status?"

Has this been updated? Because this is a MUCH bigger concern to me (and many others) than the appearance color of clanmates on the world map. Which again, not even sure why this was included in a binding poll...

I really dislike this update I can't even tell who is a friend and a clan member when doing activities with them... My clan isn't liking this update either...

In regards to the vote in the below screenshot:

I wonder if players thought that if a clan member and friend were standing on top of each other then on the minimap the friend dot takes over - because when the vote happened that's what I interpenetrated the question as...

The below couldn't be more true...that would be a far more useful update than the change in the colour of the dot.
