Question -

If you want to promote your clan's threads and the threads of clannies, is it okay to host a raffle where in order to be eligible, you have to post on at least 5 different qualifying threads? Asking for a friend, actually

That sounds suspiciously like encouraging spam posting, to my cynical ears.

Best way of promoting your clan's threads is to have links in your signature, and then to post well while being active around the forums - without having to resort to artificial post inflation.

Also my question was about the raffle part, the "buy-in"---is that acceptable? Some friends are planning on doing this but I'm unsure if that's against the rules/considered gambling. I'm interested in a response so I can tell them how careful they should be about not getting caught >.>

The rules are pretty clear so if there's any ambiguity with what my friend's trying to do, then the rules can easily be referenced

And okay okay I'll say who it is simply because I think she's doing an awesome job and I'm excited for her ideas; it's Rebecca (not her rsn btw) from RS Forumers, and the clan's recruiting and what they've done to promote the forums is quite impressive tbh

Some guy was trolling an open altar by closing the door, then I got accused of being said troll because I was standing next to the door (trying to open it again). Well....no one believed me, and instead they found my Twitter and sent me multiple death threats
