A long term clan member changed their name to "if*ckalot" or very similar.
Creative name, he should've gotten a medal. I remember a guy named HarryPNess, a true hero.

People know I don't like name changes at all
Lol I sometimes make a joke when someone changes their name that they must hate me - I don't ask people not to change their name, but yes name changes do add to the workload.
I don't mind someone changing their name every couple of months, it adds a little work to update the offsite memberlist, but we generally use forumnames/TSnames to identify members. However it gets annoying when people change it twice with a bond to become anonymous to outsiders.
Back in the days when I looked over clan applications, an immature user name would certainly have destroyed their chances of being accepted - not because of the name per se, but because of what it says about the player themselves. They simply wouldn't be a good fit with the rest of the clan.
~~~~ Just another victim of the ambient morality ~~~~
Name matters a lot to me.
If it is rude, profane, just disgusting, then we let them know, to change it.
Certainly won't recruit the player that disgusts me and if it happened that some admin recruited them, we would correct it as fast as possible.
Don't judge a book by it's cover, same principle as don't judge someone on there looks or what name they have...talk to them give them a chance first. Makes you as bad as anyone else otherwise.
Many people are way more uptight about this then say I am...
My Clanmate, and long term friend is a Communist. For fun, he changed his username to Comrade Lenin...
Obviously, in some clans, that'd ruffle feathers.
He also tried to change his name to reference a "drug" aka plant. But was halted by Jagex systems.
He's a wonderful person, who has helped me time and time again. Despite his antics. He was a Deputy in my clan, and an Overseer in my current one.
So I don't think anyone should be too quick to judge, but having said that.
I won't recruit someone with a name like... "Your mum" or anything that depicts any signs of something negative. I hate things like: "Whalecum" instead of welcome, and I live for a more mature or at least adult environment. Hence unlike Darkstar's clan...My clan is more like rated R...
In fact, we'd be rated adults only. Even though we have a few younger members. But everyone gets along nevertheless...So there's a good chemistry most the time. If it gets out of hand, I step in. Every clan at some point has to do this from time to time anyway. So might as well not be quite so paranoid about it.
Also, I don't really make people change their names, even if they aren't for me. 99% of the time it's for a joke, and they change it back, and I don't look like the police.
The younger ones have now learnt from other's mistakes and often ask before changing. I allowed
Lady
Of the Night for example but put my foot down on I Touched
the cabin girl
. Although I laughed privately and applauded his immature ingenuity that individual was given the choice of exile from Clan chat until the name was changed or my kick finger firmly pressed against his name. He took his exile well and his willing behavior even earnt him brownie points with the older members.
Way, way, way too uptight. Like you'd literally hate 75-80% of my CC.
If I see an extremely offensive name, then I report it. If I see a moderately offensive name, I'll be wary of them. If they do join our clan or start guesting, I keep a very close eye on them while also trying to get to know them.
.....
Maybe report what someone says, but to report a username? That's just silly, in my opinion.
I've been in clans and FCs that don't allow members in the chat who have inappropriate names. It's usually an extension of a "no inappropriate language" rule.
I don't have a problem with names that may have drug references in them. That says more about the person than anything else. But names that are offensive, bigoted or prejudiced in some way are a big no and always get a report from me.
The name does put me off because 90% of the time someone with an awful name is an awful recruit.
Same goes for any drug referenced names to an extent, i dont care if ppl do drugs but most of the time anyone who has it broadcast as their name is often a real numpty.
