I notice that a lot of suggestions keep coming up, and a lot of the replies are "if the clan rewrite passes" for the 2017 survey. Which got me to thinking. What will happen with clans if the rewrite doesnt pass? Will we continue to be disappointed with the spaghetti code? Will we never receive big updates? What is the future for clans if it doesnt pass?

If it doesn't pass, we remain largely the same. Copable, but not ideal.
We get small "quality of life" updates every once in a while, and a code rewrite would really help and be quite nice. If we don't get it, whilst it would be extremely unfortunate, we can cope, albeit with slight difficulty.

I'd like to think Jagex would be smart about it and simply delay it, not outright cancel it. My guess (if this is what would happen) is the clans rework would be placed on a queue behind more popular major updates for 2017. It would get done in 2017, but it wouldn't come first. @Lisaa_RS - Followed by @Runescape

It shouldnt of been a player decision in the first place. It should of been a thing that should of happened regardless since it was the top supported idea on runelabs.

I dont understand how we can find dev time for horrible things like beach parties, port sarim invasions, meg cases, and treasure hunter promotions every weekend. But we cannot find dev time to fix something that we have been asking for, for years.

Rewrite or not, clans will still exist, and will still be an important part of the RuneScape experience for a huge number of players.

Let's not kid ourselves - there will always be extra things that we want for clans, and which would make clan life better. Of course there will.

But clans existed before citadels and clan chats, and will manage perfectly well whether there's a rewrite or not. Clans are, above all, about PEOPLE.

rewrite will pass, but might not happen for who knows how long, but citadels remain the same as usual.

The survey is for 2017 content and there is quite simply more in those lists than could possibly be done next year, even with a significant increase in resource. The Clan Rewrite will have to place highly in order to be sure of being included in the 2017 schedule.

If the Clan Rewrite is not due in 2017 then it does not mean it will never happen, but it won't happen in that year; in that case I would expect small tweaks and QoL changes to be made instead. Mod MattHe | Former Community Manager, now in Events & occasional Lore Monkey
