just to see if I can

Edit - it seems I can :D Not had a voice for many many weeks now. Will hold my breath and hope this is not a one off like so many before.

While I am in - thanks for your Aunty column Rev, thought of writing in myself ;) Thanks to all those who keep the forum thread alive.

Gratz to all those in Wise's post with new 99s. Gratz to Pyp for 99 Herb and Revenge for 99 Dung. Gratz in advance to Wise Thoth for that impending 120 Dung and a certain cape!

Lastly again a mega gratz to Pest on that 200 mill mining :D Awesome achievement and really glad you got there in one piece. Going to take a while to know what to do with yourself but hey we have been running loose and fancy free while you have been communing with the lava nymph and lrc creatures.

Gratz to Pest on 200m Mining!
Also thanks for not bumping me out of the clan whilst I was away.

Dear Aunty Revenge,
I love playing Runescape but the new interface drives me BONKERS!
What do you recommend? I already tried pain pills, cat snuggles and staying away.
Help!
sincerely, hates_2_change

So good to see you Anriso! We have all missed you so much. =)
Yay!! Tiger's back!

Dear Hates_2_change,
Well considering the lengths you have gone to and the fact that not even kitty snuggles have helped, heres what I can offer:
1. Take it slow, treat it like a game you have never played. Take things apart and put them back together till you are both comfortable and familiar with them.
2. Talk to your clanmates about things you need help with. I'm sure someone has had similar problems and they may have just the solution you need. Let us help you as you have helped so many of us. =)
3. Once you have the screen set up the way you want it be sure to APPLY THE LOCK! If you don't, sometimes it will randomly change on you. I know how confusing and frustrating it is, I'm not a big fan of change myself. I fiddled with a different part each day until I got it the way I wanted it and understood how it worked. But even after all this time just about everyone in the clan at some time or another, has had to ask how to find/work some part of it.
4. Keep the following in mind when working with the interface:
>everything is adjustable to suit your personal needs/wants. You can size up, down, rotate and move almost all the parts. You can make it look almost exactly like the old interface, and it will work almost exactly the same way. They have also recently released an update which allows combat on auto like old style, but with the options to choose different modes of attack and defense in what ever order you choose in all forms of combat.
I'm sure there are various articles in the wiki that might give you good information/ideas and any of your clan will be more than happy to help you work it out.
Treat it like a boss or a quest that has you stumped =) . And dont give up. You will be amazed to look up one day and realize you got it figured out. Trust me, if I can do it anyone can.
Best wishes for a bright future
Aunty Revenge

Ok guys and gals, I just dropped my " suggestion" in the box. =)
Please go to QFC, 185-186-229-65392518. Or look for it in the forum for " New Game Content-Suggestions" under the title, "Boomerang Teleport" I am asking the clan to help me keep it bumped and support it. Also spread the word to other people to support it. Thanks guys. =)

Dear Aunty Revenge,
I hear people talking all the time about "buying " skills. How does one do this? I realize we don't just pay Jagex and they give us 99, but is there a way to avoid all that boring repetition and not get banned?
Signed,
My name is not patience

Dear My name is not patience,
Players who "buy " skills do so by buying the resources needed for them from other players rather than harvesting them on their own. Most people who do this aren't looking at the big picture. Unless they have no desire to get either the max or comp capes they are doing themselves a huge disservice by trying to avoid a bit of boredom.
If you look at the skills, you should see that in most cases, they are connected in groups ( some to more than one group, some groups with several connections). For example: Fire making is one of the most commonly "bought" skills. You purchase thousands of logs, burn them and viola! 99 fire making. The only problem is that if you plan on achieving the max cape, you still have to go cut all those logs for the wood cutting skill. Just think for a minute about all the skills that use logs. Fletching, fire making, cooking, construction. (If I missed any I am sorry) Yes, you can buy logs for all of these, but to begin with, thats a sinful waste of money lol, not to mention you still have to cut the logs for 99 wood cutting! So just imagine this, you start cutting logs for fletching, ( in the levels under yew I pretty much cut, fletched the bows and dropped them where I stood) and either bank them to fletch later or fletch where you stand. When you get tired of this you can change up and cut and burn for firemaking. Once you get to levels where the products, and even the logs themselves get pricey, you can even make money if you cut more than you want to use at a particular time. So to recap, you go cut logs, fletch, burn, bank for sale and in the time you spent you raised not one but 3 skills and potentialy made money instead of spending.

And this doesn't even address the fact that the money had to come from some place. So either you accquired it through some less than rule abiding method, or you worked some other skill to acquire it. Why waste it by avoiding a bit of "honest" work? =)
By harvesting your own resources, you can potentialy raise multiple skills at little or no cost. This also leaves your money free for buying tools, weapons, "goodies" and then you aren't stuck at some future date grinding your way to 99 in a skill you would have maxed simply by doing it to raise those other skills.
Patience is the "unsung" skill of Runescape. It is the single most important skill you need to succeed in this game. Nowadays there are so many things a player can do to break the monotony, being bored is just not an accepable excuse. You should just call it what it is, plain old fashioned laziness.
I wish you all the best in your endevors on Runescape, and hope you have as much fun as I have/do with it. =)
Sincerly,
Aunty Revenge

Dear Aunty Revenge,
I have been a long time fan of Runescape, playing consistantly as a member for the last several years, ( read 5-6) and before that, as a non member for over a year. I love this game and it's the one thing I do just for me. =)
My problem is that sometimes I feel just a little depressed by the fact that I've been playing all this time and dont have 99 in several skills ( probably wont either for a while yet on some of them) . I have a job and a family so much of my time is reserved for those 2 obviously more inportant things =) . Getting 99 is always a thrill and very ego boosting for me lol. Even getting a level is a special occasion, which i usually celebrate by sharing with my family who, though they don't/can't all play, know how much it means to me.
Am I doing something wrong? Should I be pushing harder for those 99's? And if so, how?
Signed,
Being a grown-up is tough

Dear Being a grown up,
Let me first congratulate you on your longevity, a lot of players never see their 5th year let alone their 7-8th. Well done!
And let me also congratulate you on having your priorities in proper order. Family, job, game, in that order =) .
Now, as to your imagined lack of acomplishment, stop and think about how often, and for how long at a time, you play. You must realize that the people who have those max and completionest capes have hundreds if not thousands of hours in the game. They did not do it over night. I would also venture to say they do not in most cases, have the responsibilities, or perhaps the sense of said responsibility that you do. I do know some few who have managed successfully to juggle these 3 things and I'm sure they will tell you it was not a walk in the park! I salute them everyone! To have a family and a job, and not be neglecting either one, and have any 99's at all is a great thing! cont.'
