Stop beating yourself up and just have fun! It's a game for goodness sake. Keep it in perspective. Congratulations on all of your achievements, I hope you continue to enjoy success in your family life, job, and the game. =) But don't think you are by any means required to max Runescape in any set time. Especially not at a cost to either famliy or job. Life without your family would be no life at all, and without the job...well its hard to pay the internet bill with no money lol.
Keep on keeping on =)

Dear caught_in_loop,
Ahhh yes, the Great Hamster Wheel of Agility. Very few things in Runescape can compare for sheer, unadulterated, mind numbing boredom. It's difficult to chat, as you have to click on obstacles, the scenery was old after the second lap, and theres always some smart aleck acting like laping you is going to get him a golden gnome or something. Not to mention all the REALLY evil people in Agility Capes who keep telling you, " oh agility isnt so bad." ( This is what inspired the kiss my backside emote. Jagex failed it but there are those of us who feel it is an idea that has come into its time =) ) .
Your's is a dizzying dilemma. Fraught with circular logic and trapped in a spiral of controversy. Most of us see agility as the "One ring to rule them all", a demonstration of Jagex's evil sense of humor. An attempt on their part to weed out the truely independant thinkers by turning our brains to mush and laughing as they dribble out of our ears. ( There are some rumors going about that this is how zombies are created and that Mod Mark is actually an evil wizard who is building an army in preparation for the apocalypse.)
Be strong! Fight back! Here are some simple suggestions for agility training survival:
First set realistic goals for daily training. No matter if its 5 laps or 50, set a goal and stick to it. You may find, as you gain immunity to the whirlpool of boredom, that you are able to increase the number of laps you can do, or even the times per day you attempt them. Or you might set a total xp gain you wish to achieve in a session. Don't be afraid to lower this if necessary to maintain your sanity.
Try breaking up your session with farm runs or small tasks or challanges. Trying to push agility training too hard can be as bad if not worse than having you're teeth filled without anesthetic. It also will have a negative effect on your morale, which is not conducive to consistant training.

Last but not least, try finding other poor souls who share your pain and train together. Having someone to chase/be chased by brings a friendly sense of competition to the whole thing, ( sharing the pain makes it easier to bear) and will make it pass much faster.
I wish you the best of luck and hope that your necessairly self-inflicted torture is soon at an end. I will keep my eye out for you as I too " circle the great brain drain".
Signed
