¤¤¤ Rules and Guidelines ¤ Post 2.03 ¤¤¤

We pride ourselves in maintaining a productive and friendly chat environment, and while we do not always endorse disciplinary action, we maintain our right to enforce the following rules.

These rules are not exhaustive and may be expanded upon by ranks monitoring the chat as deemed appropriate. Any abuse toward another player, defamation of or slander against Star Find, or other remark deemed offensive can result in a kick and/or ban at the rank team's discretion.

Each of these rules applies within Star Find's friends chat walls, Star Find's clan chat, and affiliated forums or other related entities. Members of Star Find are considered representatives of the friends chat and will be held to these rules in any public setting, specifically while mining stars.

§¤ Do not freeload from Star Find.

§¤ Use appropriate language. Do not use words or phrases that could be perceived as offensive by another clanmate.

§¤ Do not spam the friends chat, falsely report stars in the friends chat, lure other miners into the wilderness, intentionally interrrupt the list, publicly defame Star Find or its members, or publicly accuse others of wrongdoing.

§¤ Leave the chat before entering a restricted server ( free worlds , Beta servers, etc.).

§¤ Do not sit in the lobby.

§¤ Be respectful at all times. Ranks and non-ranks alike deserve the same level of respect.

§¤ Be conscious of other miners in the wilderness. PKing other chat members is never permitted.

§¤ Follow our reporting guidelines.

§¤ Do not use quick chat text in Star Find unless reporting a star.

§¤ Do not impersonate a rank in any way in the chat or otherwise.

§¤ Follow all Jagex rules.

This post answers frequently asked questions about each of our rules and guidelines in post 2.03. If it does not answer your question, contact one of our Lieutenants, Captains, or Generals through the chat.

§¤ Do not freeload from Star Find.
• Freeloading is defined as the intentional misuse of Star Find's services. This may include failure to follow our reporting policy, distributing Star Find information and lists to other chats, consistent refusal to scope and/or list, among other violations. You can avoid freeloading by taking part in our pre-wave and post-wave processes, such as listing, recruiting, scoping, scouting, hunting unreported stars, and reporting found stars in Star Find.

§¤ Use appropriate language. Do not use words or phrases that could be perceived as offensive by another clanmate.
• Star Find embraces its diverse community, and while some players may not find some things offensive, others may. Star Find does not allow any malicious attacks toward or cursing at other players. No derogatory speech will be tolerated in any manner.

§¤ Do not spam the friends chat, falsely report star worlds, locations, and/or sizes in the friends chat, lure other miners into the wilderness, intentionally interrupt the list, or publicly accuse others of wrongdoing.
• Spam is not permitted in any way in Star Find or its affiliated forums. Unnecessary and excessive punctuation or lines of text are considered spam. Excessive and malicious spam, falsely reporting stars, luring, and list disruptions can be grounds for an immediate and permanent ban. If another player is disrupting our chat or affiliated forums in any way, please contact a rank privately; do not forward the matter into the hands of other players in the chat.

§¤ Leave the chat before entering a restricted server.
• Free-to-play worlds and ''Old School'' servers are not allowed within Star Find. You may join the chat in instance-shared worlds (i.e clan citadels). Ranks bypass these guidelines. For more information, please see post 2.08.

§¤ Lobby sitting not allowed. We request you not sit in lobby for extended periods of time (general limit is 5 mins). If you are found to be in lobby for over 5 mins you may be removed for an hour.

§¤ Be respectful at all times. Ranks and non-ranks alike deserve the same level of respect.
• Every player of any rank or status within our chat deserves and values respect. By refraining from any offensive behavior toward other players, you can be respectful. Please treat everyone else in the chat with the same respect that you expect, and if you find yourself doing something that you would not approve of, stop immediately. If another player is being disrespectful, please contact a rank and discuss the matter privately.

§¤ Be conscious of other miners in the wilderness. PKing other chat members is never permitted.
• Star Find is not in any way responsible for items lost in the wilderness. You may be attacked at wilderness stars, and you may be killed and lose items. In order to avoid this, be conscious of those around you. Killing other chat members may result in an immediate and permanent ban from Star Find. Read our Wilderness Guide for more information.

§¤ Follow our reporting guidelines.
• Star Find was built and is sustained by a constant flow of reports from miners. Please do your part by reporting; failure to do so may result in a kick or a permanent ban. Please see post 2.07 for more information.

§¤ Do not use quick chat text in Star Find unless reporting a star.
• In conjunction with our prohibition of spam, we limit quick chat to reporting a star on world 96 or muted player reporting (or unless otherwise needed for techincal reasons). Using quick chat in the friends chat may be considered spam.

§¤ Do not impersonate a rank in any way in the chat or otherwise.
• Impersonating a Star Find rank can lead to misrepresentation of our chat. Impersonation with malicious intent may result in a permanent ban. If you have seen someone impersonate a Star Find rank, please contact a member of the Star Find Administration.

§¤ Follow all Jagex rules.

¤¤¤ Reporting Policy ¤ Post 2.07 ¤¤¤

While in Star Find, you will sometimes be required to report stars that you are mining back to the chat. The following contains our reporting policy and describes when it is required to report stars back Star Find.

§¤ You are required to report a star:
• When you arrive at a star (no matter how many other players are mining the star or how many others have already reported it).
• When a rank requests you (or your collective world) do so.

§¤ At least one miner must report stars:
• When the star changes size.
* When the star is tubbied.

§¤ You should only report stars that you mined yourself during the current wave. Typically you should only report stars on your world, but if you mined another star on another world previously in that wave, you may report it.

§¤ You must actively report all stars you appear at (this includes s8 and 9 stars. This is a recent change to the rules), even if you do not mine it.

§¤ The proper format for reporting stars is: world, location, size (e.g. w2 akb s7). For comprehensive assistance with our abbreviations, please see posts 1.03-1.07.

§¤ If you are muted, please report using quick chat on all worlds. See post 3.02 for more information and a comprehensive guide.

¤¤¤ Permitted Servers ¤ Post 2.08 ¤¤¤

Joining the Star Find friends chat on Old School RuneScape worlds is not allowed. All RuneScape Members and Free-to-Play worlds are allowed. Star Find does not list foreign blocks, however reports from those worlds are welcome.

¤¤¤ New Recruits ¤ Post 2.09 ¤¤¤

The Star Find rank crew has been working for a couple of months on a new ranking system. Our goal is to incorporate more bright minds and voices into our team. We are very conscious of who we honor with this recognition, and if you are rewarded with a stripe, you are becoming a part of the newest tradition in Star Find’s operations.

We reward players with a recruit rank based on a small set of criteria: willingness, helpfulness, and kindness. Willingness means that a player will contribute when necessary and can pick someone up if needed. Helpfulness implies that a player follows rules, knows how to report, and knows how to help another player that needs it. Kindness is self-explanatory and we value this trait in all of our new recruits.

The recruit rank is the first step to becoming a full rank of Star Find. This rank only signifies a beginning though, and while it does imply that you’ve been recognized, it does not mean that you are done. We ask that all recruits continue upon the path that you have lain already through willingness, helpfulness, and kindness.

All recruits should know that trying to outdo other members will not advance the process. We are prideful in our group of knowledgeable and hardworking ranks and we are selective of who reaches this point. Doing too much will only hurt you. Thus, we have instituted a guideline for all recruits of three blocks and/or one list per day. While it is okay to exceed this limit to a point, we ask that you stay within close reach of this guideline. This will allow you to progress into our team smoothly and without stress.

¤¤¤ Resetting the Friends Chat ¤ Post 2.10 ¤¤¤

When a channel is completely empty, the channel is unloaded from the server, causing any temporary bans from the last hour to be removed (permanent bans still apply). Because we are a large chat and we typically don't empty out by chance, we can take advantage of another method of doing so. The process of emptying the channel to trigger this change is known as resetting.

§¤ Before resetting the chat:
• If necessary, find a rank that can kick players from the friends chat.
• Try to find a second rank that can kick players from the chat to assist.
• Notify the chat at least twice that a reset is about to occur. Ask players to rejoin the chat in 5 minutes. Once this is done, kick each player from the chat.

§¤ After resetting the chat:
• Ensure that no new players have joined during the duration of the reset. If they have, explain the chat reset (like above) and kick them.
• Ensure that there are no players remaining in the chat.
• Leave the chat for 60 seconds.
• Return; if other players have rejoined the chat, the reset was successful.

§¤ You can reset the chat if:
• Someone was kicked by mistake.
• The chat seems dead or unresponsive.
• The matter has been discussed with other ranks in the clan chat.

§¤ You should not reset the chat if:
• Stars are falling or reports are coming in.
• Spammers or other mass disrupters have been kicked recently.
• A rank equal to or above you is unresponsive.
• The list is being read. If the lister is accidentally removed, finish the list by relaying private messages and then reset the chat.
• Another rank believes that a reset isn't necessary.

Warning:
• If another rank equal to or above you is unresponsive, the reset will fail - that would be bad. If a general is present, the safest option is to allow them to conduct the reset.
