As the GE tax has been in the game for more than two weeks, it is no longer a "recent" update and therefore this thread has been moved to the Existing Game Content Forum

The post above has been removed for making a personal attack on another poster. Please remember:
Code of Conduct :
"Be respectful of your fellow forumers.
No need to flame any players, no matter your history.
There is a difference between flaming another player and sharing your opinion on their argument. Remember to discuss the topic, not the player you're talking to"

Also, several of the posts on the previous page are veering off topic and bringing in politics and political economic systems.

Please keep posts related to the thread's topic, which is the RS3 GE Tax.

Thanks.

LMAO......This whole tax thing won't fix anything only cause more problems even at 2%.

Do you know why Taxes were designed? To fund salaries of certain jobs/other things like city parks and the secret "To limit things by increasing the value to punish the poor" <---that alone isn't wise in a video game, it acts as a deterrent.

Inflation is a man-made issue due to poor designs. RS3 economy is weak due to Easyscape.

----Supply and demand---
-Patience waiting buying @ -20% crashes the prices on common goods

-Players not caring for prices and are in a rushed mood will do the -20% and depending on time of day, you just sold for cheaper. (like the players that sold me 90+ onyx's for 750,001 each, hence them crashing)

too much supply, it can crash, too little, it can rise.

If high alch didn't exist, oh boy is the economy in trouble.

--
GE Tax will only solve one thing, push some away from merching as more risk is added.

"If the world doesn't know about flaws of our markets on the people gaining money from one's losses in a loop, how would jagex know it harms the economy?"

^Tug of war system 101. ;)

You are out of your mind with the "grind tax". Why should people be penalized because they do not have the time to play daily? Sometimes I, and many others, go months between logins. There should be zero consequence for that. I would not have been loyal to this game for 15+ years if any such idea was a reality.

15 years playing and you only managed to get 22m exp.. realistically you would prob be more loyal with a grind tax.

Not sure how you can equate exp to loyalty. If a customer goes to a store once a year for a specific need, are they not loyal because they don't have the need, or the means, to go in there more than that? Are you going to make that customer pay more because they do not frequent your store more often? You'd be down a customer if you did.

Like many, I entered into the world of Runescape before I was this thing called an adult. The more time passes, the less you have to spare, assuming you're not being coddled by mommy and daddy your entire life. I may not have been on every day of 15 years, maxed any skills, or completed every quest, or been a member 100% of the time, but I've enjoyed every minute of my time in Gielenor and have kept coming back from day one because of it. That's loyalty.

My sincerest apologies for having responsibilities from a young age, which is something I assume you know nothing about since you have the time to 99 every skill. With how loyal a player like you is, I think it'd be a better idea for your loyalty tax to take a fractional amount of GP for every hour of gameplay. Or maybe tax based on exp? Heck, why not both. Lots of GP to be made off of loyal players. I'd also like to propose a tax on players with over 6,000 forum posts.

I wouldn't take Yo Blue seriously. His comments are a joke, and he's either trolling or delirious. There's no way someone seriously believes extorting your player base and forcing them to login daily would be beneficial for the health of the game or somehow make you "loyal." Being forced to play because your money is being held ransom is not loyalty.

As for the tax, I feel like this is just skirting the issue and is a secondary fix. They're better off reducing the quantity of gold entering the game, especially via PVM. Reducing death costs and just taxing everyone off of sales doesn't seem balanced or a fix, especially for those like myself that don't PVM. I haven't died in this game in 10+ years, so I receive no benefit from reduced death costs, but I do get the penalty of being taxed for every other aspect of the game I do participate in.

What was the problem that the tax was supposed to resolve?

The higher the tax, the more you will force players to trade player to player rather than use the GE and to me that is a big negative. Player to player transactions breed scammers. We want people to use the GE.

I was excited the max cash stack issue would soon be resolved to everything could be more safely traded on the GE but with the tax people won't use the GE for max cash stack items.

Am I wrong?
