Oh my god. This is definitely what the problem is. I honestly didn't even realize I could drag the prayers out of the menu. I keep my prayer and magic menus open at all times as part of my basic HUD setup.

But while I could probably manage for prayers if I added them to a hotbar and then positioned the hotbar where my menu currently is, I'm not sure there are enough hotbars for that? Unless they've added more. There are like 6, as I recall. I use a double hotbar setup with 2 for melee, 2 for ranged, and 2 for magic. Even then it's annoying since if I want to switch to dual-wielding I have to drag in the spammable 5s cooldown ability to replace the 2H version.

Is there an option to lock the icons in the menu, I wonder?

Edit: Seems there are up to 15 action bars now? In that case I'll try your method. Hopefully I can drag them around properly though.

This game's attempt at hotbars really is so sloppy

@OP

On the top right corner there is a lock for the UI.

On the right end of your current action bar, there is a lock to the action bars.

Make sure you have them LOCKED before you go into combat.

As for the number of action bars, you have 15 presets and can display 5 of them at a time. However, you can either hotkey or use the switch on the top left corner of the current action bar to switch to the other undisplayed ones.

Lock the hotbars with the lock icon on the right of the ability bar then.

Not that "hotbars" are used for everything but most players use them effectively to give us lots of benefits over Legacy Mode I told you in the posts above. More often we don't even bother to click or look at a lot of things on the hotbars. We just use take advantages of the keybinds, and it means no issues you have like prayer switching, drinking potion delays etc.
