You have no right to tell other players how to play their game and frankly, I think there should be a list of those opposing this change as well, to give a realistic perspective.

I am not sure, whether you understand the point of my suggestion and I only run a list of majority (of around 80%).
Everything, ranging from sub-atomic particles to galaxy clusters, has its dynamics predefined. And then there are people claiming that systems like economy, society or other human sub-systems are in our hands.

I understand that you want to turn off pets, because you find them annoying. Well, others may like their pets and actually want to have them out for whatever reason, especially to show others. Bragging rights are probably the most common reason for it.

Personally, I own drakes too and I never have them on their adult form, because I find it annoying as well and don't want to be a bother to others. So I get where you're coming from, but I don't kid myself. If someone else wants to rock their drake in all its glory, then they should absolutely be able to do so.

So again, you don't have the right to decide for other players. I can't support this.
Be the change you would like to see in the world.

This change would have absolutely 0 effect on other players (namely the pet owners), it will only be a visual change for the player who are using the settings.

Then Jagex should not allow players to change any of the graphics settings because I want to show off my particools and I want to make other player's PC stutter as they try to process the animations with max graphics settings.

I can't show off the particles if bloom isn't on max. I can't show off the details of my outfit if the texture is compressed. I can't show off my lawn in my POH if terrain blending and ground decor is off and texture is compressed. People can't appreciate my walk animation if their max foreground fps is too low. People can't see my character if they're alt-tabbed, the client should be on top all the time.

See how unreasonable that argument is?

That's pure semantics, Urek. Graphical settings are a totally different thing to cosmetics and pets that you have acquired or paid for to show off. Again, I'm playing devil's advocate here, because I don't actually use my pets to show off as stated and you would never need to "censor" my drake, but there are a lot of players in RuneScape who care about that.

Also, I am well aware that the suggested change would not be visible to the pet owner. I make my point despite being aware of that fact. I think I've explained why clearly enough. You're free to disagree of course, but you have failed to convince me on this.

Players should always be free to express themselves, even if you're disgusted by it. You can always, you know, politely ask them to put the drake away.

But I've seen how it goes at dxp weekends, places like Lumby chest, those players get profanity thrown in their direction the moment they set foot there. How would you feel?

Xav, lemme ask you a hypothetical question..

If EVERYBODY turned this user-side-only toggle on, then nobody would be able to see your drake except you. But that would mean everybody would use this, so wouldn't that speak for the support of this thread? Since, if implemented, it would be used by everybody?

More realistically, not everybody will use it. Only people who see pets and are in some way affected by them would. While those with the OP computers and those interested in pets would still more likely not toggle them off.

It's all personal choice, and whether you bought it to use, or just to show off, you will get your money's worth. Guaranteed. Especially since it's a simple toggle, which if you wanted somebody, like a friend or somebody random you are talking to, to see your pet for any spur of the moment reason.. then hopefully they'd be kind enough to oblige your request and just take 5 seconds to turn it off, so they can see it.

Our question is more so, why does a couple dollars of Runecoins that you spent, matter more than every other person who dislikes pets' gameplay? Why don't we get to choose when it's something that is negative to a lot of people?

I wouldn't say it is about bragging on both sides. It's more like 80 to 20, where within that 80, there are legitimate reasons like those oversized drakes are able to cause lags to certain portion of players, or they can even have effect on physical well-being of some players from among the major group as well. Simple toggle could, however solve those unpleasant effects.

On the other side, within the minor group, there are claims that they have right to show up what they own, no matter what severity of problems it can cause on the other side. Maybe those players lack attention in real life, so they wish to compensate it in a virtual world. But they should be aware that selfish attention is not an appreciation.

Is it really that different? People spent time and/or money to buy their fancy outfits as well. The only thing separating them is that there currently is a setting to reduce the amount of effects for cosmetic outfits via bloom, texture, frame rate, etc. While there does not exist one for drakes, and what OP is suggesting is to have a setting (graphical no doubt) to turn the drakes invisible (client side, of course).

Do you really think that this thread would exist if this strategy worked?

I would expect profanity thrown at me if I was being annoying to other players. Why do you think pets are now hidden at CA?
