Great new! Yet another great new construction training method in the open world. This time we get to train with the community too:

"This update adds a new training method for the Construction skill. The player will be tasked with building a fort to the north east of Varrock. There, they will be able to process Construction materials into full buildings, and then go on to upgrade their facilities into higher tiers for improved benefits."

Among the blueprints there are four buildings we can recognise:

A Chapel - perfect for training the Prayer skill!
A Workshop - presumably this is where you'll assemble building materials.
A Command Centre - a must-have for any fort, this is where you'll run the place!
A Town Hall - a nice place to rest up and earn some bonus XP that you can share between your skills."

RS3 is really becoming a massively multiplayer game. We don't have to be a loner buidlng/removing the same "furniture" in our POH for years and fool ourselves we are "training" construction in RS3.

well, be interesting to see the xp rates for the upcoming fort forinthy

Pretty good xp rates, especially no time is wasted on calling and paying the annoying servants and removing furnitures built on hotspots. Really refreshing and rewarding xp. :)

Unfortunately, so far, the fort has little reason to go back and train Construction. Other training methods are still superior in almost every way.

However, I hold out hope that the future updates to the fort will allow us more customisation, and perhaps the possibility of putting a lot of time/effort into constructing things that other players may wish to buy. Currently, Construction is the only manufacturing skill that has no market for the items you create, except perhaps those looking for Crafted components for Invention.

Hopefully there'll also be a reason to reinforce the fort in coming updates. Right now it seems to me to be a completely useless feature.

Fort Forinthry is about the only viable way we gain construction xp AFK.

I made decent money turning untradeable protean planks into tradeable flatbacks and such for years. I can make even more money turning proteans into new construction materials now in the new Fort.

The other way to train construction and make even more money at the same time in RS3 is Iaia.

We have portables for AFK XP now. Yes, the fort may be slightly more AFK, but the rates and cost don't make it worthwhile, in my opinion.

I've already stated flatpacks have a market in Invention, but that is all. It would be great if we could make use of the actual items rather than just disassemble them. This is the main focus of my point - to make something tangible that can be used by other players.

Iaia I did not know about as it's inaccessible to skillers. Thanks for the info.

Good that you said "in your opinion". Obviously there are plenty of players who enjoy AFK and social training. That's why we see plenty of them there even if they can get slightly more xp elsewhere.

What you wrote is totally wrong, we can absolutely gain other valualble stuff like dinosaur eggs and blow pipe pieces etc training constructon in Iaia already. It won't surprise me we can make other useful and tradeable things in the New Forts too. Remember, this is just the FOUNDATIONS, with no tradeskilling involved yet.
