Some options for improving the construction skill:
The first and most important thing I would like to suggest would be to "fill in" the gray area around the perimeter of one's house. Now, let me explain. Remember the swept away quest when the player would be teleported away to an area in order to sweep away lines to make 4 triangles? The area in which the player is teleported is a perfect example of what can be done. Notice that the edges of the environment are lined with "trees" to make it look like it's completely surrounded. This would be a lovely addition to the player-made houses, as even the less experienced player can own a cabin in the woods instead of in the middle of a mass of grey. Jagex is a talented crew and I'm sure they would be more than capable of not only accomplishing this feat but even creating different possible backdrops that the player could even select/buy from the real estate agent. Some options include being surrounded by cliffs, and maybe the house could even be on an island (surrounded by water).
The second and less important point I would like to bring up is this; lets say I have 3 cats in my pet-house. Why is it then that only the first cat shows up as yellow on the map in my player-made house? Is this a bug?
And lastly, I would like to bring up my last suggestion. There is no question that construction is an expensive skill, as I believe it was made for rich players to spend excess amounts of cash. My question is what about the not-so-rich players who enjoy the skill? My plea is to include a nonexpensive way to level. Now I know what you are thinking! but let me explain; one could argue that magic is also an expensive trait, as it requires runes. But we have an option to make our own runes! sure it takes longer, and the rich ppl will likely continue to buy it on the GE. Why can we not do this with construction? why not give us an option to make our own planks without spending copious amounts of money?

Have you looked at doing the attack deal in the game room? it uses granite which is easily obtained.
in fact, its not that expensive to do if you gather your own stuff. rich players buy their materials from players, and buy the marble and gold stuff to do the gilded pieces that arent needed but once. IF your not rich enough, dont buy them.
i got to 75 con doing nothing but cutting oak outside my poh, using lunar plank spell to turn them into planks, then going into my poh in yanille so that i didnt need to get a servant. since i made my own runes, it didnt cost me anything. granted its slower, but thats the trade off: fast exps cost more than slow exps. frankly my dear, I couldn't give a dam. never had a river to build one on.

You can cut the cost of construction into fourths if you use sacred clay hammers (Double exp, wears out when you earn about 50k experience with it, from stealing creation, very easy and quick to get if you know a skilling fc that make games last 10 minutes.)
Then, you can cut that in half again by buying unnoted logs and having your butler unnote them and run them to the sawmill. That makes each oak plank cost 1 oak log and 312.5 gp(250+62.5 gp from butler before love story.
It's still a expensive skill, but i was able to get 70 construction for 3m compared to 10m

New construction options would be awesome, my house is almost maxed and I'm a frequent party hoster. But i rather have some changes to things we already have. Like the ban list & doors, I was hosting a party yesterday for a continues 10 hours. In that time I had to kick everyone 3 times because of spammers and people who enjoy closing doors so nobody can go trough.. We really NEED a one player kick function! Its really frustrating if you're putting all that effort in a house and then some person ruins it, everbody comes to me "Kick X!! He's annoying", and I can't do anything in my own house.. This really takes all the fun from hosting party's away.
to long; didn't read: We need a one player kick function! And new stuff for con would be awesome!

this is another thread about construction with some great ideas.
i support any updates to construction cause its such a fun skill, i enjoy hose parties and having 100s of people running around my house but its getting old and boring so something should be done about it.
