Iron Woobie: Complete

HFPE: Don't Fear The Reaper: 32 years

~~~~
Iron Woobie is complete. Bring on the official description.
~~~~

The concept for the Iron Woobie came after the announcement of Sparkadia’s Hyperion power armour. Feeling the Ultimate Armament line of armour was outdated and somewhat defunct, Godking Marcus commissioned a new series of armour, and this was the result.

Iron Woobie refers to a common trope in television and film of the same name. A woobie is something of a punching bag for the universe, one that takes everything it has to dish out like some kind of lightning rod for misfortune. An Iron Woobie is different, because after taking all this punishment they still have the will to rail against the universe, to defiantly shout “Is that all you’ve got?” to a deity or deities determined to put them down.

Which is what this armour is all about. The Iron Woobie takes the hits, absorbing even the most extreme of attacks and channelling their energy for its own use. It then converts that energy into firepower, turning an enemy’s own attack against them.

Test Report from [REDACTED] Testing Facility:

Test Administrator: General [REDACTED], head of the [REDACTED]

Recipient: Godking Marcus Islingr

Clearance: [REDACTED]; HIS EYES ONLY

The AK IW Power Armour Mark I was tested on the date [REDACTED], to meet the following criteria in order of importance:
1. Protect the wearer from offensive technology applied by the present-day nations of the universe.
2. Absorb the energy of said attacks and store it.
3. Redirect said energy to weapons and all other vital systems.
4. Sustain the inhabitant in situations of prolonged lack of access to basic amenities.
5. Allow survival and movement in all possible terrains.
6.
Provide enhancement boons of the Cortana-class AI

7. [REDACTED]
8. Protect the wearer from offensive technology applied by the present-day nations of Universe [REDACTED].
9. Allow the inhabitant to survive travel via the [REDACTED]
10. [REDACTED]
11. [REDACTED]

Its ability to meet each criteria was considered exemplary, though its ability to meet criteria [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] was determined on a purely theoretical purpose. If you will forgive the informal comment, sir, I do not see that we shall ever need to meet those criteria, and the day on which we require them shall be a day on which survival may not even be viable.

The suit was able to endure extended durations of fire from most kinds of weaponry employed by our enemies and allies (I know you considered this unnecessary, sir, but it is preferable to be ready for all possibilities), with no damage detectable by our scans. It appears to be entirely immune to kinetic damage, and the coating applied to the armour seems to have reduced the effect of energy weaponry to a point of insignificance. Perfect Guard still meets the tough requirements you set of it, but I would still advise an update in the future; progress does not hurt, now when it keeps Ascendant lives safe.

The power absorption network worked with full expected efficiency, filtering out all unusable energy and capturing at least 98.7% of all usable energy on each test. The Energy Slivers were able to convert and retain the energy without any strain outside of normal parameters.

Power transition to systems went as well as you might expect, nothing exceptional to report on that front.

Life support systems worked superbly: an Ascendant could survive indefinitely in the armour without any permanent damage. Not much else to say on the subject.

The success of the terrain-endurance systems was comparable to the first test of Project Impossible; I would not hesitate to jump into any number of hells in this suit and expect to come out without feeling even slightly uncomfortable.

Truly sir, this artificial intelligence Divine Lord Magery has concocted is staggering. The reflexes, strength, speed… its integration into the suit allows it to give our already superhuman soldiers the abilities of General Lupus, which is never something to be sneezed at when the good General can rip through the hull of a capital ship with his bare hands if so chooses to.

Moreover, the recovery subroutine meets that one need we have never been able to meet until now: its ability to pull unconscious soldiers out of combat—or even keep them fighting—is superb.

The tests have been run. If there is any threat from Universe [REDACTED], you can be sure we will be able to meet it. May you help us all if it ever comes to that…

(The rest of the document has been redacted)

End HFPE

"Please bear in mind that a 1 billion ton shell is by no means... Erm... Small... So technically it would just be a snub-nosed weapon, rather than a completely scaled down weapon system."

What do you make the shells out of?

Make it out of neutronium (doesn't have to be a solid, it could be it as a liquid contained within something else, if you wanted to stick even closer to science-based fact and so on - you could even say it's made of neutron-degenerate matter (the stuff that is theorized to make up neutron stars, and which is where I get the details of the density) if you wanted to be even more fancy).

Roughly speaking, a slug the size of a cricket ball, made out of neutronium/neutron-degenerate matter, would weigh approximately twenty trillion kilograms.

For reference, a cricket ball can be easily held in one hand.

That's what the TGE uses =P

I used to use something (I'm talking way long ago, in Belozay's early days) that, due to a lack of scientific expertise, I called the dwarf star technique. Basically I mimicked the density of a star after it had collapsed into a white dwarf, which I'm told is one of the densest materials in the universe. I believe this is similar to what you described, but Sith will probably put us to shame with why both are physically impossible.

A white dwarf is at least a million times less dense than a neutron star (based on the figures I'm getting from research, W*kipedia says a million, another source says a white dwarf has a density of ~ 10^5 or 10^6 g/cc whereas a neutron star is ~10^14 g/cc, which is a difference of between a billion times and a hundred million times, and so on and so forth).

That said, they're basically identical in function and identical in scientific laughability (as, like you said, I'm sure Sith will succinctly point out at some point; for instance, how are we even managing to move and fire something that weighs that much ? Ironically, I actually have an explanation for that, of all things).

The thing is, of course, once you create FTL technology, (thereby giving you a method of creating beyond-infinite energy if you really want to, amongst other things), physical possibility is thrown out of the window. Which we all know and don't particular bother with anymore.

Ok since I'm pretty much the certified Astrophysicist on this thread I'll clear some things up.

A white dwarf: Essentially, the mass of the sun (1.981x10^30 kilograms, yes, I know this number by heart) compacted to the size of the Earth. Very very dense object but I will do into further details. Mainly composed of the former helium core with a dense carbon carbon core after red giant stage (I still have yet to take my astrophysics stars course, but this is from research papers and such.

A neutron Star: The mass of Jupiter (1.90x10^27 kg) or the mass of the sun (1.9891x10^30 kg) compacted down to the size of the city of New York. Super dense, a teaspoon of material from a neutron star would weight over 7000 metric tons on earth. These objects also come in various forms (Pulsars, rapidly rotating neurton stars that emit Electro-magnetic waves from the poles. The Crab nebula's neutron star is an example. Magnetars are another form, which is a HIGHLY magnetic star with extremely powerful magnetic fields.)

Now firing an object that is essentially neutron star material is impossible, as you would have gravity being generated from a massive object (It would bend space-time, causing gravity to occur. It would be impossible to generate anti-gravitational effects with material that mass around.)

Now I can't see any other way to explain this but I can say this.

Quantum.

Quantum mechanics though only works with the atomic and smaller particle field effects and is very confusing subject and we can only predict movements.
