That's funny about the # "typo". I never understood how one could have accidentally done that, and thought that it probably wasn't a coincidence that # looks like an H.

If anyone has any specific questions about BD# around that time, I'll see if there's anything else I remember.

Also it's pretty easy to find opening posts from some of the earlier BD#s because people have pasted them into different forums. You can also find some of the work from as far back as 2006.

There's also a BD# from 2008 in the Funorb forums.

I also vaguely remember someone named Preda as being accredited as the first ASCII artist. If that name sounds familiar, would you be able to confirm?

I remember I made my first attempt at drawing on the forums happened after applying to a logo thread for someone to make me a goal-tracking meter for 99 woodcutting. After no one made it for me, I took matters into my own hands, even though the picture wasn't the greatest. But it got me started into drawing and I eventually made my first successful drawing, which was a tiger.

That being said, I do remember some of the names from then. There was Humpthatfish, Humble Hoare, Da Hairbrush (although I think all these three - or maybe two of them - were the same person), as well as Lordseth and I still vaguely remember them all celebrating when an artist named Alex Grirson returned from a hiatus. I also think Notl3y (who I acknowledge as indirectly first getting me interested in ASCII), Artanis62 and Im Da Ruler2 were active during that time.

No, that doesn't sound familiar, can't confirm or deny.

I'm going to see if I can find any old files from back then...

Edit: No luck. I found an external hard drive with tons of old stuff, but I couldn't find anything to do with ascii. I know I had BD# stuff saved at some point, but I'm pretty sure it was deleted somewhere along the way.

Edit again: Found something - it's not a lot, and it was only my stuff, but hopefully I can find other BD# things.

I found a list of about 340 names of people who had ventured into Off Topic at least once in 2005 and maybe including 2004. (I had a thread where I had to keep track of people who posted, lol.) I went through it and recognized some names, but I couldn't remember if they were artists or if I just remember them because they were forumers at the time. Is anyone interested in the list?

Also I have a list of forum mods from then. O_o

Personal Marks

On this page I will show you all the known personal marks of artists, so you can easily tell if they
made it or not.

Prince Patar:

Here is one of the most well known personal marks. Prince's personal mark was a leaflike point,
such as:

It often had a strikethrough like:

°‹,,¸"¸,,›ˆ
...¸°

But sometimes it didn't like:

¸¸,,‹•*ˆ

The leaf is usually towards the outside.

Also, remember he didn't use it in all his signatures.

I have had quite a few personal marks.

My first was this wave: •,¸¸,‹•*°

My second was the music note: I soon got rid of that because of its oddity.

My third was a division strikethrough:

The two dots of the symbol help the strikethrough in the same way the semi colon does. I still use
this occassionaly.

My fourth was 1-lined strikethroughs: ‹;¸´¸¨¸`;·›.',¨¸¸ I still use these often.

My fifth was using alligned shading. You know stuff like ##¥#¥¥?¥??_?__ I don't use it that
much though.

My sixth was this:'.............¸·*ˆ¨¸¸„‹ˆ

My sixth was a line like this: ¨`ˆ"ª^ª"ˆ´¨ I still use this

My seventh and most recent was the mysterious triple space.

My eighth is still to come.

Agile Waffle:

Agile often uses the ™ sign. He also has a rather thin style.
