Drew up a skeletal draft:

Here is yet another reposted version of the famous "Bored? Draw #ere!" sticky.

Ever wondered why it's "Draw #ere!" and not "Draw 'ere!"? Simple typo, but it's one that has become Forum lore!¹(footnote) :)
Anyone who is looking for a logo for their Clan should head over to the Clan Discussion forum to the Clan Logo thread. We have a ton of talented artists specialised in clan logos waiting for your requests!

Sticky Specific Rules:
1. Posting obscene pictures may be a great display of your artistic talents but will unfortunately result in a ban. Fair enough?
2. It may be the highest form of flattery but please don't copy other people's work!
3. I'm sure it goes without saying, but just to put it out there, all other forum rules apply.
Everyone happy with that? Ok, Draw #ere! ;)

Looking for a logo for your clan/business/etc thread? Try asking another artist here for help! One of us may already have a logo drawn that fits your need, or maybe we'll even draw you one from scratch. Just post saying what you want in the logo, what it will be used for, how big you want it, and anything else you can think of. We can't guarantee that someone will be able to draw something for you, but it's worth a shot. :)

Guide so far

How to Draw 101:

So what are all these fancy pictures? How does this all work? Where do I even begin?

All good questions. Drawing on these forums can be tricky and there are many different ways to go about it; however, with a little guidance it can be quite easy, not to mention fun!

Let's start with the basics. There are two kinds of art: aligned and unaligned. Aligned uses characters that are the exact same width and uses the underscore _ as a space. However, this is seldom used anymore as the current font does not have many symbols of the same width. Therefore I will focus on the more used style, unaligned. Unaligned art uses practically any symbol, generally the thinner ones. Although some of these symbols can be found on the keyboard, many are entered using Alt-Codes. However, for your convenience I will put a list of commonly used symbols which you can copy and paste. It uses periods as a space, because the RSOF do not allow for there to be multiple spaces in a row.

***Tips***

The elipsis (…) (Alt+0133) is the same length as three periods and can be used to limit the number of characters you use.

Censor giving you trouble? Try putting in an 'r'

Make sure you have Num-Lock on

Useful Symbols: ¸_,„.±+×=‹«¬¤•·-–—~ªº^™*¹²³°“"‘'ˆ˜`¨¯ > < | \ / ; : ! ( { [

I didn't even realize how few characters are the same width. That's a shame; aligned was great for beginners. Is it feasible to do unaligned drawings with what used to be aligned characters? Beginners might find that a better start than trying to work with the the traditional characters for unaligned drawings.

Overall the guide looks good. If working with characters like _#$? wouldn't be too difficult, maybe recommend that and put a mini-example in so people can see what it looks like, as well as a mini-example of unaligned. That's if there's room.

huuuuuuuuuhhh

I have this guy on my friends list he used to make signatures too

Also I'm kinda with Cyan on the logo request thing, since there's no other place to request logos and ascii it could be flooded with apps and take away from the actual thread purpose

^^ I'll try to squeeze that in :)

oh lol, yea he was a bit of a loose cannon. If my memory serves me well, I believe he created an alternate account and copied art just to get a reaction out of people. My memory's a bit fuzzy on the exact details.

Hmm, that's a fair point… hmm.. I suppose we'll find out if that happens? It could always be taken down? Although, the added thread traffic could be a good thing.
