There are no visible or audible signs of life in the surrounding area at first. As Barlor surveys the barren, shadowed landscape, however, he does spot an odd disturbance here and there. If his ears are sharp enough he may even pick up a faint crackling noise. And, could those have been eyes glinting menacingly in the darkness?
The ice from Christina’s spell encases the burning creature, but not long before it rapidly melts, dissipating with a painful whistling noise. The wolf snarls, slowed down but not stopped. It seems to limps slightly, as if greatly damaged by the spell.
Then, just as the priestess is about to deliver what could be the final blow, she hesitates. The wolf-like beast sees this and wastes no time in exploiting the opportunity. Charging wildly forward, it swoops out of the way of the delayed spell, eyes ablaze and red plasma trailing from its mouth like some infernal foam.
But instead of pouncing on Christina, the beast darts past her, instead moving toward Barlor, howling with uncontrollable rage.
