I give Ashlin a suspicious look as he hands out the armour.

Me: Thanks.

Putting the disguise on is straightforward enough, since I'm wearing ordinary clothes consisting of dark grey trousers and a light grey shirt, rather than robes. throwing the cloak over my shoulders as it's too big to wear underneath, I twirl my finger in the air and the garment darkness, turning black to fit with the armour. I then strap my inventory and book to my back so they're hidden underneath the cloak.

Me: How's the village? anything suspicious, or are we good to go?

sarah: "Hmm, there seems to be typical "bad world" stuff going on. Seers replaced with necromancers, black knights patrolling the streets and... captives."

christina: "Captives? But that means there are still people we can save!"

me: "Not so fast."

christina: "What? Why not?"

me: "Think ahead. We risk exposing ourselves if we help them, and even if they are safe, they have nowhere to go. Best if we ignore them."

christina: "How could you call yourself a hero when you act like that?"

me: "Like it or not, rescuing captives gets us nowhere until this plane is safer. Besides, I have cast aside the hero in me long ago."

sarah: "Um, Barlor? What are you doing?"

me: "Loosening the joints in your armor. Neither you or Christina can fight well in heavy armor, so this will make removing the armor easier. Ripping it off will suffice. Now put on your helmet."

everyone is wearing their disguise and i have weakened the womens armor to make it easier to use. we are prepared to head through the area undercover. the kinshra seem to salute before ashlin, whose disguise is that of an elite

me: "Remember: leave the talking to me."

however, we are stopped by an elite black knight, who seems suspicious of our movements

black knight: "Halt! Where do you think you're going!?"

me: "We are on the lookout for runaways. They were heading towards the White Wolf Mountain."

black knight: "And what do you do when you catch them?"

me: "We bring them here and line them up so we can make an example of them."

black knight: "Sound believable, but you still seem suspicious, especially you, women. Why are you fidgeting so much?"

me: "They are fresh recruits, recently conscripted to fill in for the missing squad."

black knight: "Reinforcements came strangely quickly then. I want you to prove your sincerity."

They see me rollin', they better run...

the kinshra enters a building and comes back with the same prisoners sarah saw through the orb. they look starved and pale, with scars all over their body and shaking in fear. their clothes are only rags

black knight: "These laborers have been slacking for too long. If you are truly one of us, you will execute them."

prisoner: "Please, no!"

me: "As you wish."

christina is clearly disturbed by this. she had to act cruel once before, but this is no less painful. i take notice"

me: "Close your eyes, Christina. Think about you will do when you return."

as the prisoners are lined up, they are forcibly straightened by devices. i position my sword arm across my torso and, with no hesitation, decapitate them all with one swift stroke. i think little of it, as i consider it a mercy kill, but no one else shares the same sentiment, unless duncan or ashlin agree

me: "I suppose this is enough. Now if you would excuse us, we have runaways to catch."

black knight: "Very well, but be quick. You know what happens to turncoats."

we head to the east, out of earshot of any potential eavesdroppers

me: "Keep walking. We shall head for the direction of Catherby once they lose sight of us. Once we get there, we should clear and fortify the town. The Kinshra shall undoubtedly be searching for us."

christina: "How can you be so casual about this after what you just did!?"

me: "I did what was necessary. If we did not comply, we would be executed in their place for treason at worst, and lose our cover at best. We should only fight when we have terrain advantage. There is no telling how many spares the enemy has."

sarah: "If I can cut in, the sun's about to set. We should hurry to Catherby now. We got a long day ahead of us, so It's best to get as much sleep as possible"

me: "Very well. We are out of their line of sight. Discard your disguises."

everyone is back to their normal attire, and we move towards catherby

*On our way to Catherby we find a small black knight blockade.*

Me: Looks like we were a little hasty in dumping our disguises.

Duncan: We should be able to sneak past.

VMG: I don't do stealth.

Duncan: We just need to get past the blockade then get out their sights.

*The party manages to get past the blockade however as soon as we pass it we are spotted. However none of the troops so much as fire an arrow at us.*

Sarah: What? Are they too scared to fight us?

Black Knight: Why bother wasting arrows on those doomed to die. You fools are in troll territory now.

*The party cautiously head further out and hear some barbaric drumming and see some fires. The party soon realise this is what remains of Catherby which has now been converted into a troll camp.* The statement below is false.

sarah: "Oh gods..."

catherby looks nothing like it used to. buildings have been demolished and the ground is littered with clothing from unfortunate bypassers. the trolls have not noticed us

jack: "There's no time to change our minds. The sun has set. It's either take over the town or die. Either create little noise, or yell as loud as you can. It can fool the Kinshra into thinking we fell."

sarah wears her bow over her torso and shapes her crystal seed to bow form. she then climbs a nearby tree, ready to snipe a few trolls from a distance. because trolls tend to have a rocky exterior, christina is ready to cast water spells and jack wields a mace in place of his usual sword

They see me rollin', they better run...

Me: (thinking) OK...I haven't fought Gielenor's trolls yet. But I hear they're weak to magic, especially water. If they don't have a resistance to any element, then I can use my light, fire and lightning spells without them resisting it, while I try to think of a way to use water. It's not an element I'm too familiar with, though...

I notice Christina is about to use water spells, however.

Me: Christina, I have an idea. I'm hopeless with water bit I have a grasp of lightning spells. Assuming that the trolls' rocky armour doesn't have any resistance to elements, I could add an extra lightning effect to you water spells for extra damage.

christina: "Interesting idea. Go ahead."

jack: "Be careful. We're fighting on a beach after all."

christina: "Don't worry. I'll be."

jack: "OK, I'll count down from three. Once I do, Sarah will shoot, and when I say go, we attack. 3... 2... 1..."

sarah shoots, killing one of the stronger trolls in one shot. the trolls appear distracted for a moment

jack: "GO!"

i am the first to charge. i throw my sword in the air, then take down one of the larger trolls with jumping tackle, punching it in the face for good measure. i quickly get back up and catch my sword as it lands, using the momentum to strike at another troll. christina uses her electricity augmented water spells to wipe out a small wave closest to shore, except its surprisingly resistant leader. jack engages it in a duel, brandishing his mace. the troll smashes the ground at his location with its club, but he dodges with a sidestep and literally disarms it. he then wields with both arms to smash it on the back of its head with all his might. sarah, however, is forced to relocate because rock throwers destroyed her tree

sheesh, that was annoying. login timed out without me realizing so i had to type this twice. next time i am suspicious, i will copy just to make sure

*The party get to work freeing any prisoners in the camp. Suddenly a small army of trolls walk onto white wolf mountain and take aim at the party armed with rocks, explosives and whatever else they can get their hands on and throw.*

Jack: Take cover!

Me: Well best to finish this quickly then.

*I touch a symbol on my armour's chest and everything slows down to a near stand still.*

"Tachyon drive activated"

*"Sweet dreams" starts playing in the background. First I move anyone who isn't in cover to somewhere safe. Then I leap up and start kicking back anything that was thrown using each object as platforms and using my armour's thrusters. I also shoot any explosive that hasn't been thrown yet. At the last object I flip off it and land facing away from the mountain. Time then resumes at its normal pace and the trolls are hit with a volley of their own thrown objects and are blown up by their own explosives killing almost all the trolls on the mountain.*

*I then turn around and shoot down any surviving troll.*

Me: And that's how it's done.

*A roar can suddenly be heard coming from the other side of the mountain. A huge troll can be seen on the top of the mountain.*

???: You humans think you can take back your towns? Well now you have to answer to me... MOUNTAIN.

Duncan: Ohh boy here we go boss time. The statement below is false.

jack: "Mountain? That's an imposing name for a troll."

mountain gets down and confronts us. interestingly, he has no weapons of any kind, possibly because anything other than his fists would WEAKEN his attacks

me: "Great. I was starting to get bored here."

i run up to the troll and hack at him with my sword. nothing interesting happens. i then try to headbutt, but the impact makes me recoil and i leave only a tiny mark. mountain responds with a backhanded slap, sending me flying across the town. despite the impact, i then get up like nothing happened, slightly angrier

barlor 2.0: "Am I really that aggressive?"

sarah and christina fire arrows and magic respectively, but all they do is make the troll flinch a little and infuriate him

me: "No use whittling it down. It would take hours, and we do not have that time."

jack: "Perhaps we could force it in the water somehow. The ground at that point is extremely steep. Once we get it down there, there's no way it'll get back up."

sarah: "Just like Vorago."

jack: "Right."

sarah: "Then I know what to do."

jack: "No, wait..."

too late, however. sarah has rushed to the troll already, serving as a distraction by climbing around and shooting arrows at his body and generally being a nuisance. i take advantage by running up again and attacking his feet

jack: "I'll never understand those two, no matter how much I like to pretend. Everyone! Try to force the troll in the water!"

They see me rollin', they better run...
