Gideon

Pick used then dropped, blade grasped in both hands, Gideon continued carving the damn thing, until the hand fell, its finger-arms writhing. Peculiarly, Gideon helped up Tsakrir, a nice show of sportsmanship, an imprint of Tsakirr in the ground, and then Gideon's weapons flew by, the power of the relic still at full force. However, just as he thought, there was only so many weapons he could carry at once. Tsakirr seemed to be reading Gideon's thoughts.

“You can either leave some of the weapons in your tomb, or leave them with me. I am a psionic, and we psionics have the ability to mentally send items into an ethereal state that exists in memories. It's a complicated aspect, but it works. This way, whenever you need a certain weapon, I can mentally project it back into the real world.” Tsakrir remarked, brushing himself off.

Looking to the side, Tsakirr saw the shadowy portal weakening, the black and red fog gradually dissipating, revealing the sunlight anew. Then, the two Unhallowed heard something blazing overhead. In the air was some sort of flying battleship, on fire and smoking here and there. The vessel was about a hundred feet long and thirty feet wide at the middle, the ends narrowing. A few holes were along the sides of the ship with canons poking through. The ship seemed to have very tall walls and a ceiling, with smoke flowing out the top, but how exactly it flew was not known. The ship seemed to be crashing, as it descended steadily, breaking through branches and then the canopy, and soon followed by a bang as the ship smashed into trees and the ground.

“Didn't see that coming. So, would you like me to teleport your weaponry into my memories for storage? Or shall we just move on? I have a funny feeling that you will one day be back at this tomb, though.” Tsakirr remarked, crossing his arms, looking in the direction of where the ship crashed...

The Divided City - The Four Mercenaries

Indeed, high risks mean high rewards. Just when everything seemed to be the end after a noxious bomb attack, and a long, strange dream, the Dwarf sprang to action, even sundering the helmet of the thief. To add to the string of sudden events, gliders swooped down, the wielders letting go and attacking those below in a savage frenzy. The bandits had themselves been targeted by a surprise attack.

“Kill them all!” Gareth had commanded, and at that, an arrow flew, and a bandit had been disembowelled even through his armour where Joric's axe had cut where the plates did not meet. A mix of pyromancy, a summoned fire elemental, and forming into a circle allowed the adventurers to gradually fight through and make their way through the mob. Elsewhere, the two mobs of brigands fought the devilish folk, both sides fighting aggressively, though the devils would even leap at their foes after being stabbed.

Some of the gliders flew into the ruined homes, the devils flying them smashing through windows or jumping through window frames, gliders bouncing off the walls or getting stuck in the frames. The devils soon reappeared, using matches to light up Molotov cocktails at their belts, then throwing the bottles out the windows recklessly, smashing against the paced road, helmets and sometimes other devils, igniting whatever they landed upon.

A few brigands threw grenades at Gareth's men, but kept their distance, intending to attack the mercs once their grenades exploded...

Fishing,
Continue fighting your way through the street. Note that you can also fight your way towards the nearest apartment building or alleyway, for a quicker escape.

You can still control this scene however you wish, if you'd like; there will be a rather tough mini-boss soon no matter what happens.

Other characters are closing in on the Divided City; everyone will soon end up being in the crossfire of a battle, so stay on your toes!

Analee

Analee and Talarins journey to the divided city began. At times the journey got rough, Talarin, at times, had to climb a tree to look ahead. Their travel seemed to pass with ease, they were after all two elves who could hunt, track, etc. and on the plus side, they hadn't been attacked. Analee was enjoying her time with Talarin. As she followed him, she wondered why they hadn't seen each other since they were younger. Reaching up, she made sure her hair was pulled over her scar. It was the one thing she didn't like, the thing that made her not feel beautiful.

Eventually they made it to the outskirts. Analee gazed upon the ruins and surroundings. It, to her, was breath taking. As they made their way through, Analee followed Talarin, swinging across vines. "This is...I haven't seen anything so beautiful and facinating!" She told Talarin as she continued to look around. Suddenly, a roaring noise was heard, causing Analee to look up above them just as a large ship thing soared over them, crashing. "What was that?!" She asked as she looked at the smoke that was now flooding the sky.

Analee made her way up and stood by Talarin. "Should we?" She began "should we see what it was? What happened to it?" Analee didn't know why but she was curious to what this thing was. She looked over at Talarin and waited for his reply.

Miranda "The Raven" Banner

Miranda looked back at the Arbor as it spoke. It to her seemed to be a sad little creature. Just as they were beginning to cross, a growling noise could be heard behind them, and then splashing noises in front of them. Miranda and Hawk both stood and gazed around. Before anyone could speak, these otter/beaver looking people began to appear. Miranda had never seen anything like them before.

Miranda slowly started to back away. "We're sorry, we didn't mean to cause--" she began to say just as Poca began shotting fire balls at the creatures. "What the hell are you doing!" Miranda and Hawk both yelled at her at the same time. Poca had just made the situation worse. These creatures were going to attack them for sure now, they after all just made the first attack.

Think Miranda, think she thought to herself. Maybe if she teleported herself over to the other side, she could distract them, Giving Hawk and Poca ofcourse, a chance to do something. "Be ready!" She called out to them. This was the first time that Hawk would see her power, which would explain a lot from their childhood.

"Excuse me, you otters!" She yelled out, hoping to grab their attention. Miranda waved and then vanished before them. "I'm over here!" She called from behind them. With another wave, she turned and ran.

As they turned, Hawk pulled out a long sword he had and made his first move towards the creatures as they were distracted.

Analee

Talarin hesitated, rather dumbstruck by the crash landing of some flying ship. Buruk looked a little scared, tail low.

“I guess so, hopefully, it won't be dangerous.” Talarin finally replied, though he was himself curious as to what happened. The rising smoke would make the crashed ship easy to see, so the two elves, Buruk and Bane followed the smoke.

Later, the two elves found the crash site. The flying ship had broken through the canopy, landing amidst a few big trees, lying on its side, smoke and embers flowing out the hull's openings for the canons and the cracks. Since the area was marshy and wet, the vegetation did not ignite too much, but did produce smoke.

Coughing and wheezing sounded from within the ship, and a dozen Asian men were already standing nearby, having exited the ship moments ago, now dragging comrades out the ship. A few soldiers wore scale armour for the torso, including large sections for the shoulders, large gorget, split skirt-like protection, and a skullcap. The armour was known as kai (full form shanwenkai), the traditional iron scale armour of the Qinese peoples (based off China). The soldiers had quivers and bows in a large pouch, as well as a sheathed sword and dagger.

The rest of the soldiers wore jackets with the inside lined with metal scales, a helmet, and wielded arquebuses and had sheathed swords, but had no armour for the arms or legs, and so were less armoured than the archers.

The soldiers that were just dragged out the ship wore jackets lined with metal scales, and had been burned and coughed from smoke. Most were injured from the crash as well, sustaining cuts and swelling.

By the time the two elves reached the scene, but remained hidden behind shrubbery and ruins, ten soldiers were dragged out the ship, lying on the ground or sitting up, coughing, injured from burns, armour scorched and cut.

The soldiers not injured too much looked around, others looking at the ship but the gunpowder stored in it exploded, causing further flames, and sent debris flying out all over the place, the soldiers shielding themselves. They did not seem to know what to do now.

Poca and Miranda

The Arbor was indeed a sad little creature, especially since they had eyes that naturally seemed to be half-closed, making them look like they were always sad and bored.

At the dam, Annie as usual depicted her character as Super Mario with Flower Power, who shot fireballs at the Arktoidea. Which ever ones she aimed at was anybody's guess, though it caused Hawk and Miranda to yell at Poca's behaviour.

Nevertheless, the sudden appearance of magic fire did frighten the Arktoidea, but since they had been swimming, their dense fur was wet, and so the flames failed to do much. In retaliation, those in the water each threw a small muddy stick at Poca, and one used his tail to whip a mass of mud at Poca as well.

Meanwhile, Miranda teleported at the other side of the river to distract the Arktoidea guards, referring to them as otters, and Hawk unsheathed a longsword and approached them. The guards were confused, wondering how Miranda poofed behind them. Being beast-folk, they were not as intelligent or keen as humans, nor did they have as good eyesight. Their natural shortness also made them easy targets for longer weapons. They remained stupefied.

Poca thought she was doing the right thing by attacking that strange creature but she got yelled at by the stranger and Raven. She didn't know to react to their recation at the moment. She saw her attack didn't effect them because they were wet. That's when she saw the mud stick thrown at her mud sticks at her. She was able to douge the sticks. But she didn't she the whip coming towards her and it hit her in the right arm. She screamed in pain. She drew her sword and swung it in a zig zag trying to hit the strange creature in the hip who hit her with the whip. -Dances-

The Mercenaries

Despite being outnumbered.... twenty-five? Thirty? More than that?

Okay, despite being outnumbered some-ridiculous-amount to one, the four men (and one elemental) fought on, leaving a trail of bodies as they gradually edged closer and closer towards an alleyway. Gareth figured that if they made it into one of those, they could turn and use it as a bottleneck. Running probably would have been better, but anyone who attacked him was going to bleed for it, damn it.

And then some of the thugs started throwing grenades.

Darius noticed the first one out of the corner of his eye. Before it could even leave the brigand's hand, Darius sent a fireball in his direction. He had no chance to see the results, because another man rushed him. He did, however, hear an explosion and several screams come from that general direction - and he was unsure if what he saw flying off to the side was a severed arm or a Molotov. But he sure did enjoy burning things.

Another grenade skittered at Joric's feet - this one poisonous. Without wasting time, the dwarf stepped forward and kicked it. It rolled underneath the legs of one of his opponents and went off in the midst of a mob of those strange creatures. Bolag had done something similar, although the grenade he kicked had failed to go off.

By blind luck or perhaps skill, Darius's fire elemental had blasted a grenade mid-air, causing it to detonate. Clay fragments rained down, but only served to inflict shallow cuts on exposed skin and didn't actually kill anyone.

Another grenade had actually landed in the midst of their ranks, letting off a blinding light. Thankfully, they were all facing away from it, so its impact was minimal.

As the brigands once again pressed the attack, the mercenaries continued their stalwart resistance, although Gareth himself was getting somewhat tired. His swings were getting slower, and his parries increasingly sloppy.
Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.

Poca and Miranda

Having noticed the wetness of their fur and so being resistant to burning, Poca decided to go forth, dodging muddy sticks, but a mass of mud splatted onto her arm; although mud did not look like much, it was actually rather painful to be slapped by a mass of mud.

Poca then attempted to attack at one of the Arktoidea's hip, by swinging her sword to and fro, but the creature stopped caring about Miranda and faced Poca, his shield presented, blocking the half-elf's attacks, as the sword would just strike into the rim of the shield at either side. Since there were two more otter-guards, they stepped forth, pushing their shields forth while stabbing their swords forth at the same time, but being stocky, short-legged, short-arms, and so having very short reach with their weapons, they probably would not be able to reach Poca.

Hawk approached, longsword in hand, which frightened the otter-guards, as they were not accustomed to facing long weapons wielded by tall foes, so they raised their shields and stood their ground, but they did squeak with worry.

The otters in the water resorted to throwing more muddy sticks at Poca and Hawk, swimming farther upstream to keep distance, and they continued throwing sticks, then would swim down, grab a handful of rocks or mud from the river floor, then resurface and throw the things at the pesky humans. The same growl from last time sounded again.

“What was that? Sounds like one of the queen's pets, like a - waww waww... ” the Arbor whined, interrupted when he sneezed suddenly, the force causing him to sit down. He shook his head, then looked to the side.

“Well, the queen's pets don't like water, so I'll just waddle to that big tree leaning over the river, the queen's pet won't ever bother following after me, as she'd just risk getting wet. Yeah, I'll go do that, budda-budda!” the Arbor continued, then picked himself up and waddled towards the tree leaning over the river, which Poca had suggested to climb earlier.

Hawk and Poca noticed that the otter-guards were intimidated, having been frightened by Poca's pyromancy and now by Hawk's longsword and height, so they would probably flee if something frightening, loud or unexpected suddenly happened...

The Divided City – The Mercenaries

They fought their way to an alleyway, which was much narrower than the main road, and indeed provided a suitable means to reduce the effectiveness of mass of numbers. Then, the bombs came, Darius casting pyromancy at one, causing it to explode in the thrower's hand, the blast of flames swallowing a few of the brigands.

The Dwarf and the Orc kicked bombs filled with poisonous gas away, a group of the devils receiving the blast of one but the other did not explode. The devils coughed and could not breathe, and were promptly swarmed by the brigands, who always had eagerness to attack vulnerable foes.

The mercenaries and the fire elemental gradually neared the alleyway, Gareth getting tired; although well-equipped, as good as a knight, he was not a true warrior. Nevertheless, the commotion caused by the gliding devils and bombs of the brigands allowed the mercenaries to reach the alleyway.
