Lore got up and patted Sarah on the back. "I'm sorry to hear that... I'll help you find these people so you don't have to suffer losing another of your family or friends." Lore promised.

Lily shook her head. "No, I'm fire proof... that whole 'being part dragon' thing helps quite a bit."

The Witch continued to look at the floor.

The man atop the throne continued.
"I don't know why I keep you alive...Every time I entrust you with something important, you fail."

The Witch looked back up.
"I didn't fail...I determined that what we needed was there!"

The man shrugged.
"I already knew that. I wanted you to go GET it."

The Witch was almost pleading now.
"There'll be other times, other chances!"

The man laughed.
"It seems that while Surmantis and that demon-tunred-angel Zaku are around you can't do anything."

The Witch was filled with hatred now.
"Then I'll kill them both!"

The man laughed, louder now.
The sound echoed throughout the empty hall, mockingly.
"What about that spell you spent three weeks researching, the spell that you could only cast once, the spell that would stop a man's age, forever?"

The Witch looked back at the floor.
The man continued.
"The infallible irriversable spell that would not allow one to die unless one had been 'killed' twelve times?"

His voice became piercing.
"I know who you cast that on. One you thought you had under control.

One you thought was your mindless slave."

He leaned back.
"One who will eventually kill you."

" Thank you so much lore!! Sarah said huging him still crying.

Icek's smile just keeped geting wider.

Norzak grabed the same drink lily had and drank it.

" Oh and by the way.. Can you tell that other dragon creature that the lady hes * protecting * I guess.. Tryed to kill me and i was just defending myself..

Lore blushed again and just kept holding her in his arms. "You can thank me when we get rid of the person your trying to kill... why are you smiling?" Lore asked suddenly looking at Icek.

Lily sighed. "No... when he's determined to protected somebody he protects them to the end." Lily said laying down in the fire.

Zaku glanced at norzak with a look that seemed to say. I told you..

Norzak sighed and drank another one of those drinks. " Hes gonna freaken kill me.. Driveing me to drink haha..

Zaku sighed. " This werewolf is inocent that girl is useing him lily..

Norzak choked on the drink. " Hey i dont like being called werewolf..

Sarah keeped crying.

Icek joilted. " Ohh.. Its nice to see sarah finaly found someone..

Lore rubbed Sarah's back and held her tightly, but not enough to make her feel uncomfortable. "Oh..." Lore said awkwardly. ~Something.... no, it's nothing.~

Lily gave a great sigh. "Okay... but Lore generally take's the opinion of a girl, over that of a demon... he's got that whole 'hero' attitude." Lily said distantly.

Surmantis laughed softly to himself.
"That's a pity...Lore is very good at what he does, and I don't trust that girl..."

"And what exactly does he do?" Lily questioned finally noticing Sumaratis.

Surmantis looked at Lily.
"He kills things," he said, before turning back to his drink.

Lily nodded. "I suppose he is good at that... perhaps when he finally finds out that he's on the wrong side he'll be able fight his way out..." Lily said thoughtfully.

Surmantis put the cup down.
"He is realizing it more with every moment he spends with Zaku."

A sudden clattering came from upstairs.

"I'm sorry you a little vague, but he's getting better at realizing he can kill stuff or getting better at realizing he's on the wrong side?" Lily asked finally emerging from the fire and heading over to the bar.

The clattering ceased.

Surmantis said, "II meant he is realizing he's on the wrong side."

The clattering began again.
"What do you suppose that is?"

Lily shrugged and ordered a tea. "I don't know... don't really care..." Lily distantly.

The small blue-and-black creature fumbled around in the room that had previously been the Witch's.

Where was that stupid hatpin? She had put a lot of effort into making it effective, so she needed it back, of course.

Lily finished the tea and ordered a beer, she began to drink it before anybody could stop her, she finished it and ordered another one.

Surmantis watched with a concerned look.
"Are you feeling alright?"

Lily finished her third beer. "Yea.. I'm feeling... feeling fine." Lily said and laid her head on Sumaratis shoulder. "Do... d-d-do you have any cold water?" She asked and hug his arm with this drunken look on her face as she stared into space.

Surmantis looked slightly irritated.
"I do have cold water, do you want it?"

Lily let go of his arm and fell on the floor and began juggling a empty mug and giggled as she did so. "When did I ask you I wanted cold water?" Lily asked tried to get some non-existent beer out of the mug.

Surmantis rolled his eyes, took his half-empty cup of tea, and splashed it into her face.
"Wake up Lily, I'm sure you're enjoying yourself, but-" he was interrupted by a particularly loud bang from upstairs.

Norzak had drank about another three glasses of what lily had and a half.

" Mmm.. Good stuff.. Takes your mind off things..

Zaku was reading a book and sighed as he saw lily fall on the floor again.

" Should i snap her out of it again..? Seems like she will just get drunk again..

Lily gave a shriek and sat bolt upright and looked around. "Wait... what... oh dear... did I?" Lily asked pointing to the empty beer mug rolling across the floor.

Surmantis shrugged..
"I don't know- What the-"

Another loud crash came from upstairs

Lily locked her arms around her knees, she was curled up into a ball. "I hate that stuff... it's foul and yet I can't resist it." Lily said shuddering, the two bows in her hair were disheveled and her hair itself was messy.

Norzak glanced toward the stairs.

" Wow and im not the one doing it.. Wonder who the heck this is..

He drank another glass.

Zaku sighed. " Lily whats wrong..?

Sarah smiled. " Well sweetie we best get going.. We first gonna kill that werewolf creature.. Then my master promised to let marry go.

Icek's eyes darted arond but he didnt say anything.

Lore let go of Sarah and nodded. "Alright, I'll go on ahead of you... hopefully they won't see me as a threat if you two aren't around." Lore said turning around and heading back to the inn.

Lily shook her head. "I hate... that... that drink." Lily said, but something else was scaring her... something about Lore.

" I love em! Norzak said in a slightly drunk tone.

He had another one and he turned into his human form.

" Gawd still not enough control.. 0well.. I need another one of these.. Keeps your mind off things..

Zaku looked out the window.

" Norzak.. Go into the celler.. NOW..

Norzak looked anoyed. " Im not scared of that silli lizard...

Zaku splashed him with ice cold water and shuved him down the celler door and shut it.

Sarah smiled. " Okay good luck!

Surmantis left the Lily psychology to Zaku and walked upstairs with a drawn dagger.

He opened the door to the Witch's room, just in time to see a bluish-black creature jump out the window with a shiny object.

Lore slid in the door and looked around to see Lily curled up in a ball by Zaku. ~Ignore it... she's alright.~ For the first time in his life, he put something before Lily... if you knew this than you knew something wrong. Lore walked by the two. "I'm... gonna go get a drink from the cellar..." He lied.

Lily remained in a ball and made no move towards Lore or to even respond to Zaku.

Surmantis came down the stairs just in time to see Lore's latest statement.

Zaku steped infront of him with a defient glare.

" ill get them.. You look tired..

Sarah just sat outside by a tree and icek was a snake that was coiling arond her arm.

Lore darted ahead of him and reach the cellar door. "No... no... Lily needs you I think." Lore said waving Zaku off.

Lily looked up, she was shaking.

A look of recognition passed over Surmantis's face, as he drew his rapier, kicked open the door, and dashed outside.

Zaku fell from a ice mirror on the ceiling and landed on the celler door keeping it shut. And glared at lore.

" Your not gonna kill norzak.

Surmantis pointed his rapier at the two outside.
"I know who you are. Prepare to die."

"Scum!... alway jumping to conclusions, now move, I want to get a drink and you don't know what I want." Lore said pushing on the door with a good bit of force.

Lily seemed to have vanished.

Norzak mumbled something and turned invisible.

Zaku fell off the celler door and he seemed to be going thru alot of emoteions.

Sarah laughed and the snake hissed.

" Surmantis you old fool! your always geting in the way of things.. Sarah yelled.

Surmantis didn't waste any more words and threw the rapier like a javelin.

Lore came through the door at full force and toppled down the stairs and into a pile of crates. He cursed madly before scrambling out of the pile of crates and looking around for the werewolf.

Sarah fell out of the way and quickly got up the snake slitherd up a tree.

" You always ruin my fun.. But dont think you can kill me like marry..

She took out the flute and started playing a new tune that would be sharp then low.

Norzak slitherd past lore still invisible and went up the celler door.

Zaku slamed it and froze it shut. and norzak became visiable again.

Surmantis ignored the rapier quivering in the tree and pulled out his first dagger.

"I swear I'll ram that thing down your throat."

Lore reach the door and gave a harsh laugh. "Hey Zaku... this is Ice... I'm a dragon... hence." Lore had transformed into a dragon and was now breathing blue fire at the ice in a attempt to melt it.

Lily was gone somewhere.

Zaku hissed in anoyence.

" Nothing has changed with you lore.. This is it..

Zaku put all he could into the ice makeing it stay frozen.

" Oh and by the way.. Melted ice becomes water and water beats fire.

Sarah 5 sarah* appeared and the ground seemed unsteady.

Another snake slitherd behind surmantis trying to go for the neck.

Surmantis whirled around and stabbed at the snake coming up on him from behind.

Lore breathed fire even fiercer, after about 3 minutes of this Lore staggered back and slid down the stairs turning back into a human, he was clearly passed out and was open to attack.

The snake douged a few but was hit by one of them and hissed then coiled up and died.

Sarah smirked and one of them went behind surmantis and put the flute arond his neck attempting to choke him to death.

The ice shatterd and melted. Zaku collasped on his knees breathing heavly.

~ I never had to put that much energy to keep something frozen.. Dragonfire is so strong..

Norzak helped zaku up.

" You dont owe me anything! Just go ill eather get killed or ill live it doesnt matter anymore.. Norzak said anoyed.

Zaku sighed. " Im not gonna let him kill you.. And thats final..

Norzak growled and looked down the celler ladder.

" I think hes out..

Zaku sighed in relief.

Lore wasn't out completely, he staggered up and made a half-hearted charge up the stairs drawing his sword he intended on driving it through the werewolf's skull.

Surmantis didn't even bother to try and breathe.
Instead he threw the dagger at Sarah's neck, as the flute cut off all his breath.

The music stoped for a second and the sarah surmantis hit vanished in a white light. 4 sarah* remained One by the tree was still playing.

There was a loud clank like the sound of metal hiting metal norzak didnt have anything visable in his hand but he was holding sword.

Zaku threw all his vials on the floor and turned them into a wave of water that he sent crashing down on lore.

Surmantis cursed, pulled out his second dagger, slashed at the back of his own neck, trying to take out the snake.

At this time Lily had finally reappeared... she had a dagger around somebody's neck...

Lore's neck...

She had moved herself and Lore out of the way of Zaku's attack. "Don't hurt him... just pin him down or trap him..." Lily said as she removed Lore's sword and tossed him to the to the ground.

Lore glared at her with hate.

"I'm sorry... your on the wrong side." Lily said suddenly hating herself.

Lore didn't move, he knew when he'd lost.

The snake fell off and slitherd off and sarah keeped playing the flute.

Zaku held lore down with ice but it wasnt very cold he didnt say anything because had nothing to say.

Norzak didnt know what to do. Half of him wanted to just run off he felt like he was being protected like a small child. The other wanted to just stay and help. Finaly the second side one.

" What can i do..? He asked lily.

Surmantis leaped forward, pulled his rapier out of the tree, then struck a fencing stance.

Any snaked coming at him now would suddenly find themselves headless.
"Who will be next?"

Lily had slumped against the wall horrified at what she had just done. "D-don't... don't hurt him..." Lily muttered, she had her head buried in her hands.

Lore sighed and made a feeble attempted at moving but had no success... "Am I... really protecting the wrong person." He said to himself.

"I wont.. Zaku said emoteionlessly to lily. He didnt say anything to lore.

Icek jumped on surmantis from a tree branch. " DIE he yelled.

Sarah played the body controling spell.

~ Testing.. Move your left arm surmantis.. Heheh.

Since nobody responded to him he began to struggle to break free of the ice, he could breath fire on any of it at the angle he was laying on the ground.

Lily seem to have gone numb and was no longer paying attention.

The ice got colder and colder.

" STOP IT LORE JUST STOP IT!!!!! " Zaku yelled. He looked like he was about to cry.

Lore seemed to obey him for some reason and stopped trying to break free. He was breathing hard, the ice was weakening him. "I'm sorry Sarah..." He muttered.

Lily had beat Zaku to crying.

The ice melted and splashed harmlessly on the floor and didnt circle zaku anymore.

Zaku mentaly stabed himself for being so emoteional and he now looked like nothing happend.

Lore did not attempt to get up, he just sat there... the only sound in the room was his ragged breathing.

Lily kept crying.

Surmantis did move his left arm.
He tossed the dagger from his right hand to his left, then stabbed with his left, up at Icek.

Then, ignoring what he might have done, he rolled through the entrance to the Inn and disappeared.

Zaku didnt feal any of the hits lily did to him. He was still a little weak from the wound he had earlier and all the energy he put into keeping the ice frozen made him numb eveywhere. The oley thing that had keeped the ice cold while holding lore down was pure will power And now even that was gone.

~ I.. I dont know what to do.. ~ Zaku thought.

He was on his knees his hair covering his eyes as he stared at the floor half out of it.

Since Lore was part dragon and dragons are cold blooded the ice that had kept him pinned down was starting to get to him, everything was moving slowly and blurry, he felt like it took ages just for him to take a breath...

Lily was slumped over beside the wall she had a terrified look on her face.

Norzak looked at zaku who seemed out of it and at lore. " Dont worry ill take care of it! " He went into the kitchen and got some hot water and dumped it on lore to warm him up.

Lore went into shock at the sudden change of temperature, he eyes grew wide and he began coughing and gasping for breath.

Lily and cried herself to sleep.

Norzak didnt know anything about reptiles and he hated himself. He just made eveything worss.

" Im leaveing.. " He mutterd and went out the door.

Zaku tryed to say something but nothing came out.

Zaku snaped out of it halfway and tryed to slowly lower the water to a more mild tempeture.

Lore's breathing slowed and he stopped moving with the exception of the movement caused by his breathing. "s-s-sar... sarah." He mumbled.

Sarah walked into the inn looking uneffected by her battle with surmantis she sent icek after norzak.

She kicked zaku out of the way roughly and bent down.

" Oh sweetie what happend to you..? "

"The ice... Zaku... I tried to kill him... he ran... c-c-coward!" Lore said, his eyes were diluted and foggy. His breathing was still a bit erratic.

Lily was laying on the ground, she had exhausted her self through panicking.

Sarah smiled. " Come with me.. And we will be together again.. And we can kill them both!

Zaku had been kicked agaste a wall. and from pure hate that sarah could control lore like that he made the triangle hand motion and sarah was sent flying backword into a nearby wall by a large triangle of flames and soon burst into ashes.

The color left Lore's face and blank recognition filled his eyes. "y-you killed her... again..." Lore said, as he still laid on his back staring at the pile of ash.

Lily bent down beside him but just out of his reach. "He had to..."

Zaku glared at lore with dull pity. " She was a demon.. Useing you.. She cared nothing about you.. When demons die their body become ashes.. You will see..

Zaku started straining to breath the pain left when he used that attack he was numb eveywhere eveything started to become dark. He fell over on the floor dead and after a few seconds there was a flash of light and his body burst into flame leaveing nothing not even ashes behind. Just a dent in the wall where he was kicked.

Lily staggered back, she couldn't handle it... two people had died right in front of her and Lore was on the verge of being right behind them... she fell backwards onto the ground and began to cry hysterically.

Lore's face was still lifeless looking and cold, but he was breathing.
