"He would live, but he would miss them greatly. If he couldn’t have both, he would rather choose Tyler, and forget that he was a prince. Before him lay a treacherous path, should he decide to drop the pretence, the mask he was forced to wear. But were these thoughts and predictions too negative and grim to be Edward’s? Was there a taint of his brother’s melancholy? Of course, there might be positive outcomes should he tell his father the truth…"
--Was this a bit obvious as some kind of foreshadowing of the epilogue, particularly the last part?
It does let the audience know that Edward has it coming, but it's a good thing. Because it shows that Edward had already made his mind about he subject. It shows that he wasn't somehow forced to make a quick decision in front of the king, cause of the pressure or anger. But that he had already chosen to commit to his believes.
"To Edward, writing is for fools who simply want to make communications easier, and cowards who want to evade the reality."
--Does it seem like what Edward truly think?
I'm not sure what you mean by this one.
--Was the last sentence unnecessary on Ronny's part?
Well, the last sentence does let one think that someone has or will try to change Edward's mind. I guess that it really depends whether or not you want to let the audience know that people are going to try to convince him otherwise.
--Haha, what do you think of the casket thing?
I like it, it's a good way to show how much Ronny has grown. And how how much he has matured since he wrote that letter.
