Wow. Just finished re-reading it.
Like all of Englishe's stories, it's a powerful, powerful story.
I really think you outdid yourself.
The characters can be related to. Anybody who is a little brother knows what I'm talking about. And I can relate to the rage Edward experiences, when he just wants to hurt the people who did this to him and Tyler.
The ending feels so complete, with the digging up of the casket, but it left me feeling empty, hollow. And pretty sad.
Kudos, English. You really are the greatest author on these forums.

I'm glad you can relate to the characters and it didn't turn out as a flop! How does this compare with The Priceless, do you think? Was it as tabooed as you thought?

This is very powerful...
But I'm torn over whether it's better than Priceless...
There was something to the ending of The Priceless that this doesn't have, but I can't find the words to describe it.

Well, The Priceless is about unrequited love, and the focus is the ultimate rejection. The idea is based on an unattainable dream that no matter how much effort, how much passion or sincerity, it cannot be achieved. It's like a blind investment that never bore fruits.
The Priceless is probably the more depressing of the two, as there is absolutely no good outcome.
"But were these thoughts and predictions too negative and grim to be Edward’s? Was there a taint of his brother’s melancholy?"
Whereas Brotherly Love is about decision making, what writing is about, family, selfishness and how we perceive others. It shows you what happens when we fail to put ourselves in another's position, or fail to put others' needs before our own. And religion, of course.
Both stories have their attractions, I thought. In terms of difficulty or level of literary achievement or depth, I reckon it is this. Dunno about you :P
Either way, they are both intended to leave a hollow space in my readers' hearts which I then have no responsibility to fill :D
