As the demon kicked at her, Teegan jumped to the side; the darn thing didn't seem to be getting tired at all, and the twins were exhausted from avoiding all of its attacks. She swerved again, falling heavily to the ground as the creature's paw whistled over her head.

Suddenly there was a shout from Taena.

"Teegan go left!" she cried. Teegan rolled to the side quickly..... but not quickly enough as the monster's huge, clawed hand picked her up; nearly crushing her in its powerful grasp as she wriggled, trying desparately to get loose.

It let out a roar and she saw the ground rushing away from her as she was lifted up, preparatory to being dashed on the ground. Hearing Taena's yells and thinking of what she would be missing if she died now, at such a young age, she screamed and twisted with all she had left, franticly attemping to get out.

The demon screamed in a horrible rage and then the whole world went black.

The dust cleared, revealing three forms lying on the hard-packed earth, the demon had fallen just before killing Teegan and though she lay there, blood pooling around her and staining the ground, she was only unconscious, as was Taena beside her, and their enemy the demon sprawled there next to its victems.

A small cloud of shadow gathered to hover over the antagonists, and Sukrae, lifting himself up from where he had been on the floor of the tunnel; gazed down upon the scene.

"That wasn't supposed to happen," he said worriedly, his voice ringing in the newly created silence.

Silently he drew one of his pitch black swords, the strange runes glowing on the hilt, and sat down on the edge of the six foot drop from the opening where he had watched the battle (and finally taken part in, with his attempt at casting a spell left-handed.)

Sukrae slid down the drop, the same drop that the zombie had so recently jumped from, wounding him.

Landing safely on the floor, he walked over to where the demon had colasped when the spell had gone off, and shoved his sword through its eye and into its brain, killing it.

Black blood gushed from the wound, smoking on the floor. Sukrae watched it bubble and swirl, mesmerized.

Teegan moaned behind him and he turned, leaving the blood to form little streams, and finally soak into the earth.

Sukrae knelt down beside the wounded girl.

"Teegan," he called softly.

There was no response, as she was still unconscious, lying on the floor with her black hair falling over her white face, like a raven's feather that had fallen in the snow.

He looked for the source of the blood that flowed in a pool around her, and it wasn't hard to find, as the skin of her left leg had been torn open, exposing the red muscle beneath.

He winced, and was glad that she wasn't awake to see her horible injury. He picked her up as best he could with his arm, gently carrying her over to the side of the cave where a big boulder in the general size and shape of a table had fallen.

Being careful not to further hurt her, he placed her limp body on the rock and began to try and bandage her leg.

Where could he find a bandage?

He reached behind him and took off his cape (coal black and shadowy like almost everything he wore) and made it into bandage-size pieces by sitting on the edge of it and tearing off pieces with his good arm.

He heard movement behind him and jumped up, ready to fight whatever it was, thankfully however it was only Taena, still a bit stunned from getting blown to the ground by his spell, but otherwise uninjured.

"What just happed there?" she asked him, fuzzily.

"I cast a spell left handed!" he told her proudly, "But it didn't turn out the way I thought it would," he ended, sighing.

"What happened to Teegan!" Taena asked, remembering in a rush. "The demon picked her up! Is she ok? Where is she?"

Sukrae moved aside so Taena could see her sister, "I was just ripping up my cape for bandages, but I can't put them on because of my arm."

Taena gasped at the sight of her twin lying on the slab of stone, barely breathing.

"Give me the bandages, I'll do it," she said decisively, "we don't have much time."

For Teegan's leg was still bleeding and they had to stop it before she bled to death.
