"Are you sure that it was Kerr who did ... whatever you aren't sure he did?" asked Sukrae. "And what are you planning to do when you catch up with him?"

"Well," said Teegan, looking grim, "we were thinking something in the kill, maim, or wound divison might work."

"Oh," said Sukrae, suppressing a sigh. Having two more people after Kerr was bad enough, but having two people after Kerr trying to kill him or maim him or whatever was extremely annoying. "Are you sure you need to kill, maim, or wound him?"

"Well... hey, wait!" Teegan half-yelled, "We've told you why we're trying to find him, but you haven't told us anything about why you are here!"

Teegan sat down on the bed, crossed her arms, and looked stubborn. Sereth shifted his gaze to the door, where Taena leaned against the door frame and had on exactly the same expression as Teegan.

"I am here to speak to Kerr," said Sukrae, "did you know that he's been killing entire villages? He even tried to take down Lumbridge, the village where I used to live.

Lucky I was there visiting when he came, I gave him something he wasn't expecting." Sukrae grinned wickedly, then went on, "After that attack, I taught all the members of Lumbridge to use magic so Kerr couldn't attack again. Then I came here, to tell Kerr that I will not let him get away with any more of this."

"So what you're saying is that if he doesn't listen up, then you're going to kill him?" Teegan asked, glancing over at Taena.

"You could say that, yes," said Sukrae, hoping that they approved of his plan.

"Ok then," Teegan said, looking happier. "I really don't think that Kerr is going to listen to you, and if he doesn't listen then you're going to kill him, right?"

"Yes...," Sukrae answered, wondering what she was getting at.

"Well, if you end up killing him, can we help?"

"I don't think you guys should come at all," Sukrae told them, bracing himself for the onslaught of reasons why they should come.

"Why do you think that we shouldn't be there?" Teegan asked calmly.

"Well, um... you're both warriors and he's a mage, so he can throw spells at you from any place you can't get to, and you won't be able to defend yourselves."

"Reason two?" Teegan asked, hoping he wouldn't be able to come up with one.

"We are going to go!"

Sereth looked over at the door, which is where the noise had come from.

Taena was standing there, her eyes an extremely bright shade of gold and seeming to shoot sparks at him.

"You!" she said, speaking the word like he was a grub on the ground. "You think we are going to slow you down, or require rescuing, or something girly like that! You don't understand! We are going to go find Kerr and make him pay for what he did, and we are not going to beg to come with you! We don't care if you want to come with us, or if you don't! We are going, and nobody, including you, is going to get in our way!"

Taena looked over at Teegan.

"Right, sis?" she asked.

"Right," Teegan said firmly, and walked over to stand beside her twin.

"Why," asked Sukrae, clearing his throat, "why don't we all go together?"

"Why not," said the girls in unison, smiling at each other. Sukrae felt defeated; he had hoped that they would say no, and no matter what they said, he was convinced that at some time or another they would require rescuing, and he didn't want to have to take the time to do it.

However, he looked over at the sisters and smiled at them.

Teegan smiled back, and suddenly Sukrae began to feel a lot better about the expedition.

Teegan smiled over at Sukrae. No matter what Taena said, she thought that they might need rescuing at some point, and she thought that if she happened to be the one needing to be rescued, then she felt that there was no man that she would rather be rescued by than Sukrae.

"Well," Taena said brightly, "do we know where Kerr is?"

"No," Teegan and Sukrae said at the same time.

"Then let's keep looking for a sign as to where he's gone. Teegan and I have already searched this room, so let's go look in the cellar."

"Sounds good to me," said Sukrae, looking over at Teegan.

"Let's do that," said Teegan, looking over at Sukrae.

Everybody went over to the trapdoor to the cellar, and Sukrae lifted it up.

There was a set of stairs going down into the darkness. Sukrae frowned.

His area of expertise was shadow, not light, but then he looked over to the corner.

"Torches!" he exclaimed. Teegan ran over to the pile of torches and picked up three, along with the tinderbox sitting beside them.

Teegan handed Taena and Sukrae each a torch, and lighted them with a spark from the tinderbox.

"Everybody ready?" she asked.

"Good to go," said Taena.

"Let's go," said Sukrae.

"I'll go first," volunteered Teegan, and holding her torch high, she descended into the darkness.

Teegan reached the bottom of the stairs. Kerr's cellar was cool and slightly damp, with a musty, moldy smell.

"Is everything ok?" That was Sukrae's voice; she smiled to herself.

"Fine, everything's fine!" she called back. "You guys can come down now!" She held the torch up so she could see more of the cellar.

It had dirt walls, and was bare, except for a few crates and shelves around the walls. Teegan shivered. It was chilly down here, she thought. The stairs creaked and two more torches appeared, taking away a bit more of the gloom.

"Teegan, what happened?" asked Taena. "You look like you've seen a ghost."

"I'm fine," Teegan said, trying to dispell the creepy feeling that she had.

"Well, let's check the crates and stuff," said Sukrae, trying to sound cheerful. He was getting the same feeling as Teegan.

He shook himself; this was no way to be, scared of a cellar! Then Taena spoke, interrupting his thoughts.

"Come on!" she said, "I'm going to look in these boxes, are you two going to help me or not?"

Teegan smiled. Taena was the only one who didn't feel like... well, she couldn't describe it, really.

Taena started looking in the boxes. What the heck was happening with her sister? And Sukrae? Sheesh, she thought to herself, it was only a cellar.

"Hey guys, snap out of it!" she called.
