The petite pink-haired princess skipped about the market stalls, humming a merry tune as she wandered about the stalls examining Daralt’s many valuable… shinnies. Anything with a decent glimmer or polish was worth the time for her scrutiny, though no matter how enthusiastic she was, her noticeably clunky purse received only disgusting stares from the storekeepers in return.

Stingy old men. The lot of them!

As the wanderlust of the morning faded, thoughts of glimmering shinnies turned to sobering thoughts of rent. In the past few weeks, silver had been hard to come by. She had, of course, begun taking several of the easier jobs from the Mercenaries’ Guild, but hadn't returned since a client actually had the galls to offer her a glass of milk during the celebrations. As if she hadn't grown to be the picture of beauty already!

More than anything, she missed party life. Sharing loot, watching each other’s backs, the deep feelings of comradery. At the very least, one could rely on certain members being reliably incompetent in some aspects and talented at others.

The thoughts left a sour taste in her mouth, one that grew as she realised where she had travelled. Gazing upward at the noticeboard outside of The Mercenary’s Pub , she realised she must have absently walked here while lost in her thoughts. Well, she definitely wanted the money, but just what job should she pick?

Taking the time to consider each job, she quickly noted that several of the high paying jobs would likely require teams. The Gobbins in particular would likely be popular with those who liked to pillage or pick on the ‘weak’, the sort of place a healer might be needed once the idiots begin to relax their guard. The bounty’s looked interesting too, especially the sorcerer ‘Old Milkbar, but really that would depend on who she might be working with or against. Then again, protecting the caravan couldn't be discounted. It seemed like easy money and a good excuse to take a gander north of the city…

GAH! She just couldn't decide!

Daralt

In the city of Daralt, a man enters the city. People start to talk among each other, point and stare at this man as he walks through the city as if it is normal for him to. This man was different then most other people as he looks like a wolf. With the head of a wolf, with very white fur that seems to shine in the light. His eyes are sky blue. He walks as if it is normal to see someone like him around.

Entering the city of sellsword, mercenaries, to get himself some jobs since he is a mercenary and its his way of living. This man's name is Fenrel Snowfoot, but he goes by the name of Fang. He is a Lycanine, a race of creatures that are Dogmen/wolfmen that look like walking talking wolves.

Fang walks with a long pole like staff using it like a walking stick, his two pistols on his hips with sacks of ammo on his belt and a coin purse. He walks to the pub, the mercenary pub. He goes inside as if he was just a normal person, knowing that all eyes were most likely on him. He goes directly to the job board and takes the goblin notice walking by the girl trying to decide what job to take and then walks to the bar, then pulls out three silver coins and tosses them onto the table then says to the barkeep, "Get me a shot of whiskey and a bottle of rum" Not asking for prices he just throws coins down and asks for what he wants. His tail moves as he sits on a stool waiting for the barkeep to get what he asked for.

Fang then follows, "Also know of a place where I can get myself a wooden stake?" He rests his spear against the counter, keeping it close at hand should someone not like his presence in the pub, but he wasn't seeming too worried about that, he was there for business, looking to do a few jobs while getting stuff he needs for the bounty he heard about.
and nothing was spoiled :P

Algirdas - Mercenary Pub

Not knowing where Gabriel was, as he did not know how he looked like, the pagan simply walked to the counter, not having to say much, putting his longaxe down so that the head was on the floor and shaft leaning against the counter. There did not seem to be laws prohibiting the carrying of weapons.

“Very strong one.” Algirdas said with a thick accent his people often had, and soon got a shot of brandy, which he gulped down instantly without reaction.

The pagan was about to order another shot, when this werewolf appeared, wearing pants and a leather vest, wielding a spear, throwing down three silver coins and ordering brandy, then asking where to get a stake.

“Sharpen the butt of your spear, then you have stake.” Algirdas remarked, not even looking at the lupine fellow, and not wishing to speak to the mutt, the pagan turned around and shouted thus, “Who is Gabriel?”

Ah, here came the riff-raff.

One by one they strode into ' The Mercenary's Pub ', each more unusual than the last. Some drew the eyes of the rowdy patrons, others slipped by almost unnoticed and a few seemed to make it their mission to cause a stir. However, if there was anything that Ivis had come to learn since she started staying at the inn, it was that none of this was anything new. In the famed city of sellswords one would be a fool to be surprised by every unusual sight, and by now she had just about seen it all.

...Well... Aside from that bizarre dog-like man. Some sort of unholy union between man and beast, perhaps? She had heard stories of what folk practiced in those barbarous lands. From a purely academic standpoint she wondered how such a thing could even be biologically possible, but perhaps bringing up the matter was a little rude. You understand how touchy some people get about their heritage, yes?

Sat where she was on one side of the room gave the Kitsune ample opportunity to see everyone who entered the establishment. Nursing a mug of ale (which she found frustratingly weak, but it served its purpose as a cheap drink) as she continued her person-watching, perhaps a little absentmindedly. Ever since her arrival in the city a week prior Ivis had been quite busy setting up a semi-permanent series of connections. Browsing the market for valuable (even if the merchants were unaware of it) ingredients and materials, locating those with steady supplies of common herbs and plants, bargaining mercilessly for the best possible prices... Not to mention the two hour debate she had with the owner of the Pub itself!

Understandably, it took some effort before he saw the concept of an alchemical lab being set up in one of the rooms as being a good thing.

But that was more than enough of that. While her preparations were mostly complete, what the Kitsune needed now was money and rare materials. Common ingredients would let her brew simple potions at low

cost, and of course sell at a tidy profit, but to truly carve out a life she would need items your average merchant had no way of getting ahold of. Those jobs on the board had been changing all week, but some of them certainly gave her options, not least of which was the mention of a vampire lurking about. There were at least three different ingredients she could harvest from a vampire, all of which she could use to create some powerful concoctions. Oh, but of course there were plenty of obstacles... How, for example, was she going to harvest the dead blood of a vampire without it tearing her throat out?

Questions to be answered later, most likely. For now she kept her attention on the newcomers, her ears upright and listening for anything that might be... Interesting.

Talia

Daddy, why do you like the ocean so much?

The inquisitive voice of the young girl followed Kyve down to the docks, the one speaking crinkling up her nose and making a “blech” face as the scent of the sea rolled past her nostrils. Unlike her father, Talia did not enjoy the scent of the sea, no meaningful memories associated with it. To her, it was just air that tasted bad with water that she couldn’t drink and made her hair all yucky when she went swimming in it.

Trying her best to imitate her father’s swagger - and failing pretty badly, although she thought she was doing quite well - she followed along behind him, every so often having to break into a run to catch up. He might not pay a whole lot of attention to the fact that she was there, but she kept close enough that it was like he had a second shadow. Weaving through the crowd was easy enough for someone of her size, although there was enough space around Kyve that she did*’t need to do much of that.

Starting to whistle to herself as they continued down the street, the whistling stopped when they approached a building, and Kyve halted for a moment. Talia took that moment to look up at it, and although she did*’t really understand all the words on the sign she did recognize one: Pub.

Daddy, you shouldn’t go in there.
* she told him with all the seriousness a five-year-old could muster while tugging on his sleeve. “
You always get chased out by those ladies.

Of course, he did*’t listen - he never did, even when she tried to make a big deal out of it - and she was forced to follow him inside. That made her forget all about whatever problems she was concerned about her dad having, since it was so much more interesting inside! There were people all over, and it was noisy, and there were different kinds of people too!

At first, she gaped at what was the most obvious thing, and that was the wolf-man across the room at the bar. What was with his face? He did*’t look like her or her dad. He was something new!

Starting to run up to him to take a look, Talia’s eyes drifted around and caught sight of something else, something that made her squeal with excitement, “
Look, daddy, look! They’re so fluffy!
” while pointing over at the three swaying tails that she could see across the room. Her course immediately changed, and she went straight for the tails, trying to grab onto one of them with all of the tact that someone her age could manage.

That is to say, none.

Algirdas – The Mercenary's Pub

Was Gabriel even here? It did not seem that many people noticed Algirdas calling for Gabriel, some people looking at him, but not much happened. Shrugging, the pagan leaned on the counter and got another shot of brandy. He looked to the side and noticed a small girl appear, looking a bit shocked to see the lupine fellow, but then she got excited and ran to some sort of foxy creature, a three-tailed semi-animal girl, and tried to tug on the beast's tail. Algirdas was surprised; he did not notice that kitty-girl there. First a werewolf, now a catgirl? What an odd place Daralt already was.

“First werewolf, second fairy? What crazy place already.” Algirdas mumbled, and drank his second shot of brandy. "Don't touch tails, or he eat you for his breakfast.” He warned the dark girl, apparently not realizing that Ivis was female. It was the first time he had ever seen a Kitsune after all; he decided to go back to drinking until Gabriel appeared.
