Lived in mainland China, but came to the UK or more precisely South Yorkshire around the year 2000. But I'm moving South to go to a grammar school for sixth form. And yeah, not everyday I stumbles upon a fellow Asian ^_^ .
Very nice to meet you!
And also, I do not have much experience with what are the norms in university and such but in my current school, very few have opted for the sciences and further mathematics (there are 4 people choosing it in my entire year! Can almost pass for a private tutoring session =)). On the contrary though, quite a lot have choosen literature and the humanities.

Edit: it's 2 o l 2 =)

:O
Dude, I lived in Hong Kong and moved to UK, Greater Manchester in 2002. Not surprised about moving south to be honest - just seems Southerners gets a lot more cool stuff.
Is your current school filled with Asians? Or is it an overseas school? Or did you come here with your family? (So many questions :P )
Anyway, you sound like you're from a very posh school. The Chinese community in Manchester tend to favour Science and stuff. Shows how little I know about the overall picture :P
Thanks for the clarification :)
P.S. About time I bump into a fellow Chinese in this place. It took me 3 years...

Hey no problem, glad to chat with someone who's Chinese =).
The school I'm at is just an ordinary State School NOT opting for the government Academy scheme :P . It's in a decent district and generally consists of white British but is still pretty multicutural with Chinese, etc.
The Sixth Form I'm going to though is definitely multicultural since at the induction day, there were few white people but I'm not surprised seen as it is a selective school based on GCSE grades so lots of Chinese, Indians...
Also, in the Chinese Community here, its varied since some aspire to study law, architecture, maths teacher and so forth.
Oh yeah, did you mention that you're in a university? Which one are you at?
P.s. And lol yeah, so many people I know share the belief that southerners think that they're better than northerners... I couldn't care less about this pointless feud!

Really, wow.
Mind me asking whereabouts is this Sixth form college?
(Yeah, Sixth forms are generally more multicultural)
It seems really interesting, and you're technically just a county apart, and the Chinese community is so different.
Er, yes. Though it's not really what Chinese people call 'university'. You see, it's a Music college, a Conservatoire, at the end of which I will still get a degree, though it concentrates on the practical side of music, playing and performance, rather than the more lecture and theory based universities.
Southerners could be really nice, but I can't exactly say I'm a fan of Northerners lol. Some could be really nasty.
Three years it has been...and there I was thinking I was unique! And then you came... :P lol Jking.
P.S. By the way, you speak Mandarin, right? An American friend of mine, Agent Cico, in the story forum, he takes Mandarin as a second language. He's a cool guy you might wanna know :)

:P
Ooo a Conservatoire, that's pretty awesome =). Although I like playing the piano, music just never attracts my interest compared to the likes of science and mathematics (I'm a nerd =)).
The Sixth Form I'm going to is in Birmingham. 50 people are doing further mathematics! That really puts things into perspective compared to the state school I just left.
Oh I need to ask you this, you're pretty famous in Stories Forum so I'm just wondering when did you start writing here?
Edit: I speak mandarin although my reading and writing aren't expectedly up to scratch due to neglecting it...

I was never into music until I came to the UK and none of the kids in my local school can play the piano. Then I get performance opportunity in assemblies and stuff, and kids started complimenting me, so I find it important because then my English was really bad and I get picked on a lot. Music just took over from there. Music just seemed to have more emotion output than Maths, to be honest! :P
Oooh, a friend of mine is going to Birmingham university next year. And my sis does further maths too! Of course that reaffirms you're going to a top-notch college. I simply settled for Chethams in Manchester, really :P
I'm not really aware that I am famous around here. Even if so, maybe 'infamous' more so than famous. Either way, I certainly was a lot more popular than I am now. I only earned it because I have an above average first story here, I.E. this. I started writing here in...goodness, my first appearance should be December 2007, but I didn't properly start here until April 2008, so...how about you?
Oh well, looks like writing is going to be the next thing I give up now. I gave up a lot of things already.
Oh, since it's RS, you only had to use Pingyin. He's fine. Actually, he writes Tradition Chinese characters. Don't worry, I've never studied Pingyin in my life.

2012, what music program did you take part in for grade 7 piano? Was it RCME (Royal Conservatory of Music)?
You have a reviewing thread? That might be interesting to take up on, even if I only read the lessons. Congratulations on your sister—I just took my Grade 10 piano. Scored 88 :) . I don't know what the equivalent of that is to your sister, though. It could be behind or ahead. I just now it Grade 9 RCME is equal to Grade 8 ABRSM.

Now I'm starting my ARCT Performer's. I love it, because the songs just sound so beautiful, especially the Rachmonioff I'm playing, Prelude in g-, Op.23, No.5. And also playing some of the Visions Fugitives by Prokofiev for a camp but they aren't as challenging.
So you said you will be posting Brotherly Love on the forums? What kind of story is it, is it similar to The Priceless?

Kyle,
That thread could be found here:

Oh, and you completely failed at the name. It's 2Ol2 :P
Really? I thought it was Grade 10 equals Grade 8, but whatever :P . Good luck in that exam.
Prelude in G is really nice. I like Rachmaninov piano concerto 2 better though.
I'll reveal what I have already revealed so far on Brotherly Love:
1) It's longer than The Priceless (Or rather, will definitely be)
2) The genre is: masterpiece :P It will have similar themes, perhaps a little more intense than this story in terms of content. It will be similar to The Priceless in some ways and different in others. It is set in RuneScape, and makes no mention of the real world. The depth of the story should rival, if it doesn't exceed, The Priceless.
3) It will have 6 chapters, 4 1/2 of which is already written. I am planning for an early September release. So far it has around 13k words.
4) It will probably not have a happy ending, but you can expect 'Englishness' in the story, as it's in all my stories. Of course, my special tone, plenty of re-read values, food for thoughts, and altogether emotionally punishing :| . Alright, at least it was very, very punishing for me to write. You know how I always manage to find ways to criticize myself in writing and making it an ordeal.
5) I am sort of considering uploading the first chapter here. As for what the story is about exactly, you'll find out the same time as everyone else :)

Back now, was busy. :|
Grade 7 ABRSM forgot whether Pass/Merit/Distinction.
With my A Levels approaching, I just play the piano for leisure.

English: I started getting into writing at around Febrary/March due to school literacy events and the AoG Story Competition here. However, in those times, my final GCSEs were looming dangerously close so I did not write anything in those periods. However now, in the holidays, I have plenty of time to write so I'm essentially beginning in ernest to write NOW. =)
