Interesting. The real meaning of music, eh? That's one deep subject. I certainly look forward to it.
I know a little about the piano too! I recently wrote a little piece...
:P
Actually, I think last year's piano might be better than this years, because since I had tendonitis, my playing wasn't so good anymore since I can't practise more than 15 minutes a day, lol.
And, maybe this story isn't poor (if someone says it's bad then of course I'll defend my baby :P ), perhaps I simply no longer recognises it as something that shows the true extent of my *power* (Young Darth Malak accent, not the Darth Sidious one), and so it be poor...
I can't bring such cruelty to myself! Speaking of which, I've written another 2 pages or so, and I've done half of Chapter 5 and the most punishing bit is out of the way. Progress is not looking half bad. Should be able to finish it for a September 1st release.
Author or concert pianist? :P (If you could be either, you must choose!)

Hey, Orion.
Thank you so much for reading my story and let me know. I hope the content wasn't too intense for you (umm, if so, which parts?) I could certainly try to address any issues you raise. Though I'm glad you didn't turn away and started throwing up everywhere like some people...

P.S. I'm not going to continue subscribing to RS membership, which means I'll still be able to post, but I really don't intend to return to the game any time soon. It also means that I'm going to sell all my stuff...

Well, I intended them to be. But since the narrator has never really met Kipplin in real life, he had no way of knowing. He knows because Kipplin tells him he is a boy, and I have made references where 'he' is used instead of 'she'.

Not intense as in disgusting, haha, but intense as in, like... Hm... While I was reading this when I found out Kipplin knew who David was, I woke up all of my friends, because I whisper-yelled, "Whaaaaaaaaat?!" There were just a couple twists in the story, and a lot of the questions Danny was asking himself, I found myself asking to. I liked your take on what the game was, how you made it sound like it was an escape from the real world. I was on the edge of my seat when all of them were going to meet up, and then it never happened, haha. This was just something you don't normally find on the stories forum, and I really enjoyed reading it, haha.[=

"I know a little about the piano too! I recently wrote a little piece..."
I know, haha, because I remember you telling me. We were discussing how I was in Royal Conservatory of Music and you took something similiar to your country. I remember seeing your winter winds and other vidoes on youtube. I think I am probably one or two years behind you, seeing as how I played one of those etudes last year.
On a brighter note, because I was not on the forums I couldn't say, but I won second place for the intermediate Canadian Class at the British Columbia Provincial!@!@!@! My teacher cried, because we are from such a small town and she was just ecstatic. I was kind've like, "Are you sure they are right?" because I thought everyone played good. I was also the only white person in the room (Not that I'm being racist, because I think your asian, correct English? They're younger generations are just so much more focused and dedicated in general.) Anyways I was so happy. I won second playing Fastforward, by Alexina Louie. Look it up on youtube, it's a really fascinating piece. The person that one first played Warrior, also by Louie lol.
And about my story: I think it might turn out decent. I just thought, hey, Stephen King always writes about authors because he IS an author. What do I know? Music! I actually have the whole plot in my head, playing over in my head like a movie reel.
And actually I have to choose between Concert Pianist, Author or Mathematician/Scientist. I have always been really good with math. And I know I should choose what I find the most fun. But I know if I became hardcore playing as a pianist, I know I wouldn't love it as much. Though I think I wouldn't mind as an author. Though I could always get a double degree Math/Music at UBC so many choices. Ugh...How I wish we had communism. :P
I'd love to hear that composition you wrote. :)

Hey, Orion
I'm glad you liked the story. Um...what exactly is whisper-yelled? :P . I know this isn't a very long story, and I don't generally master story twists like some authors do around here. I do like to think I'm good at squeezing my reader's heart juice ( :P Or, a more technical term, engage my reader's emotional self).
As for the question thing, I think it's because Danny, the narrator of the story, is being shown a story himself too, where he is not the centre spotlight. Most stories here follow a protagonist and have the camera telling the reader the story about the character. In this story, I simply used Danny as someone who tells the story of Alex and David. Some people do believe games are ways to escape the real world, what about you? They did sort of meet up, but Kipplin just never showed his face - he ran off. Many people say my writing style is unique. If you love this story, you may want to read some of the recommended works on page one. Other than that, you might want to wait for my new story, which is 80% complete.
Or not, haha. I don't force people to read my stories. How did you come by this story, anyway?

Hey, Kyle
First of all, a very big thank you for doing those reviews in the guild, I am most grateful for Ciao (excuse me) completely failed at grading them on time, and he knows it. He probably left the forums too and can't wait to pass the guild on. Ah well! I'm recently holding a reviewing course for TNG, but you can take part too. The aim is to improve the skills of reviewers around here. If you'd like to take part in the course, there will be some assignments and such (and a siggy at the end). If you don't, just reading through the lessons will do as well. I think it'd be useful if you want to take up reviewing here again.

Yeah, I'm studying in the Royal Northern College of Music. Great atmosphere. Congratulations for a place! You know, I've never really won/took part in any piano competitions as such, so, well done! Not racist at all - we Asians know we're good :P
You could be a concert pianist and an author - Stephen Hough is one, I think.
That composition...I've finished it. It's just that I don't have means to record it and upload it without my dad.

P.S. I'm taking a break from writing 'Brotherly Love' for a day. You see, I've downloaded this content restoration mod for Knights of the Old Republic 2, The Sith Lords, and I need to play it before my sister comes back. Then I want to get crack on with The Sims 3, waiting for the new piano...

"Not racist at all - we Asians know we're good"
Haha English, I like that =).
Just to let you know I'm Asian as well and play grade 7 piano. Don't do much performances or compositions for it but I simply enjoy playing established and well-known music (Classical to pop namely Pachelbel's Canon and Viva la Vida at the moment ^_^ ).
However, piano's not my forte though... I'm specialising in science and further mathematics in sixth form since I prefer them and I'm aspiring to be a doctor (people say to me that it's so typical for an Asian to do music and aim for that but I just shrug).
------
Anyways, I finished reading this story and I have to say, it is very touching and does indeed evoke powerful sentiments. Further more, I believe that upon reading this, it has inspired me to write a romance epic so if it comes out well, I'll have to thank you! =)

Hey 2Ol2
Cool. Where do you come from? Where do you now reside? You don't have to answer that, but it's almost impossible to see fellow Asians in this site, let alone the Stories forum. Grade 7 piano is cool. My sister just done her grade 8 piano and grade 8 violin, but of course she's waiting for the results on that. I've also met a couple of pianists in this forum...generally people you can poke.
Really? In where I live, Maths, IT, Science are considered to be the norm for us to do in university, whereas less so on law, history and English Literature.
I want to thank you for spending time reading my story. I'm glad that it evoked something, for it must mean that I've done something right! Feel free to write a romantic epic and I'll be sure to read it ;)
P.S. Actually, I still had no idea whether your name is O or 0, i or l or 1 :|
