"My liege..."
A voice echoed through the great halls of the castle, the sound amplified as it ricochetted off of metal bars. A fog accompanied the speaker, he stood motionlessly, having appeared seemingly out of nowhere. A dark throne lay before him.

"I know..."
A large figure replied, leaning backwards, he collapsed deeper within the throne, gently gliding his right hand on the onyx stone. His left hand, closed on itself, connected with the god's temple, provided a firm support for the god's head. His seat overlooking a realm of oblivion, cries of agony rose from the darkness, reaching the footsteps of the throne. The moss on the walls brought evidence of the depth at which the two found themselves. Small tears of condensation glimmered at the occasional flicker of fire held captive within scarce torches. Minutes passed by before the cloaked figure raised his voice anew.

" My Lord, you did not reply to Bastet's first call, and now-"

"Now,"
The god interrupted, his voice was firm, but alarmed "
Apep has left her world in ruins and dust, I know..." Slowly, he rose, "Acolyte, I fear my time to act has come." He paused. "I can no longer stand idle as other gods wither away."

"Aequitas, do you not remember what became of you the last time you interfered in between gods without being sought out first?"

"Could I ever forget? Eye, you are my my closest companion, I trust your judgement. I fear this ordeal may take me longer than I wish it to. Will you watch my kingdom in my stead?"

"My Lord!"
The Eye fell to one knee, his head bowed in respect to the god,
"I am but an extension of your being, you may commend me as you wish."

Aequitas chuckled,
"Rise my friend, you know I take no pleasure in seeing you kneeled before me."
The god extended his hand and helped his acolyte back to his feet.

"My Lord, what will you do?"

"Unfortunately, I fear this may be the hand of the Second. Gods do not suddenly die, especially not without putting up a fight. The only beings more powerful than us are the first gods who created the humans."

"Are they not mere lore amongst gods?"

"No. I have never told you this, but along time ago, long before you were at my side, I met with a women, and she spoke of these events as though she had lived them. I asked her how she could have such confidence in these tales. She looked me straight on... She was there, Eye, she witnessed the First and the Second make the bet."
The god turn his gaze to the prisons below them,
"We are like them..."
He said, nodding to the captives,
"Powerless beings, held within a universe we cannot truly understand. If the Second has set in motion events which will bring about the end of the Story, there is very little we can do. But we must try, for humanity's sake!"

"Then you must go and meet with the other gods. It is possible that together, you can figure out what is happening, and propose a solution."

"You are right, I will depart at once." He turned to face his friend again. "Farewell. I this is not goodbye."

"Be swift, my liege."

((We were, but I don’t think we’re going to be hearing from him after all so I*ll go ahead and start things back up))

“Our host seems to be absent,” mused Elatha quietly to his young companion. He looked as Sol and raised an eyebrow. “We will be wasting valuable time here,” he said. “I sense than at least one other god is trying to enter this realm as well.”

He could not identify who the god was that was no seeking entrance into Randell’s realm, but that did not prevent him from sending a message.

“My own realm will serve a better meeting place than this,” he said out loud for all to hear. “Unless of course…”
There was the problem of Apep. If the world eater again sensed so many gods gathering in one place, then it was possible that his realm and physical shape would have to endure the same damage inflicted on Bast.
*I have a better idea in mind,” he told the other gods, leaving them a conduit through which to follow him.

-

A moment later, Elatha stepped into a crowded sidewalk. It was lunch time in New York City, and the bustle of the urban jungle was a wonderful disguise. No one even noticed the god as appeared amongst them.
His skin had become more naturally colored- no longer the icy blue he preferred. His yellow hair became pale blond, and his elaborate garments were now an expensive pair of blue jeans, a black *-shirt, and a gray blazer.
He remembered at the last moment, to cover his feet with expensive looking leather shoes as he walked a few yards to the outdoor café nearby.

He selected a large table, wiped his seat clean, and sat to await the other gods. If nothing else, he was certain that Sol would follow. He had quickly become attached to the new god.
Elatha had been young once too…

~New York, huh?~ Aequitas levitated before the gates of the realm, just beyond the doors, he could feel the living essence of gods disappearing, one by one. ~They must have realized the dangers of such a large gathering, smart ones.~ The god, began to fade, his self becoming less and less part of this world, transferring to another in matter of seconds.

'Get out of the way, moron!” A loud voice burst forth at the god, followed by the screeching of tires, beautifully harmonized with the imposing taxi horn. The driver, bent over on his steering wheel, fists raised, was a gently reminder of how humanity regarded most gods nowadays, this was the 21st century after all. The age in which gods were considered extinct by most. Unaware of the identity of his company, the taxi driver showed off elaborate word patterns and sentences, many of which would put sea-hardened sailors to shame. A smile crept across the god’s face, humans had so little understanding, so little patience, nothing about their characteristics should have allowed them to survive as a species, and yet they did. Not only that, but the gods had the humans to thank for their existence- being reliant on such weak beings proved a challenge for the proudest gods.

Aequitas cared little for appearances, even amongst humans, Justice need not disguise herself, the Reaper’s cloak remained his faithful companion. His hood, proving a constant shadow over his eye sockets - humans have a hard time dealing with matters which deviate from their norms. The god remained clothed just as he would in the company of other gods, but without exposing his skeleton or black flames. He remained in his male form, he had no plans on judging humans this day. Onlookers took no special attention to the scene, it was merely a careless, twenty year old male, who crossed the road without paying attention to his surroundings.

His dark clothing and hair left most to see hints of gothic heritage in the character, but nothing strange for the Big Apple. ~Now, to find the other gods…~ Appearances would lead him nowhere, gods could blend in with the humans, he had to rely on their energy, it shone like a bright star amidst the void of space. Aequitas could not "see" as the other gods did, he did not have normal sight, but rather relied on the energy emitted by living beings. This energy allowed him to see emotion, fears, feelings, and overall status. Gods were easy to spot in crowds of humans, humans were deem lights, filled with fear and anxiety. Gods, however, glowed of confidence and power. New York City was small for gods, it did not take long before Aequitas found the cafe.

"I see,"
the goddess speaks as she intercepts the message, her foot stationed flat on a black vacuum space, an endless abyss that acted as adhesive between the realms as to interconnect them.
"It appears our terminus has changed, dear raven."

"There’s nothing for us, here."

The raven caws at her from a black, empty distance, blurring its thickly feathered wings into streaks as black midnight and nigh as black as the vacuum space itself. Stretches of amorphous darkness encompass the blank, non-existent terrain, swallowing her and her raven in a great, gaping pit of nothingness.

She clutches at a scythe by her rear, unfastening it from its baldric.
"Come to me,"
she commands of her raven, and it lunges down in obedience with a frisky brandish of feather and claw,
"seek out the deities, as swift as can be."

Her wrist is inclined, the serrated silver edge of her scythe ripping a section of the black space asunder as to form a gateway between the vacuum and the lands of humans.
"The signal is weak and fading, but I have faith in you, my raven."

A pause lingers, a deafening silence that falls with the brutal touch common of hailstones, and the raven enters through the gateway at last, flying high to observe a graveyard. Grey, when the coast is confirmed clear, comes into the lands of the humans from behind a slant marker gravestone, her hands shifting over the weatherworn stone of its tapered tip.

Upright headstones of eroded stone line the forefront of crusty grass swathes, casting a gloomy feel all too familiar to the goddess. Slabs of rock embedded into the ground are scattered unevenly across the graveyard, and the shadow of her raven passes by over one as it departs and seeks out the deities.

She spots a bundle of neglected tulips by a granite ledger gravestone, dry and brown with age and death.

The raven pitches on Elatha’s table, sinking its talons into the wood, and Grey pulls out a chair in her approach, taking a seat. She wears a long, draping coat of dyed cotton that extends to her ankles, her arms crossed over either lapel.

"It has taken my dear raven an hour to find you,"
she says.
"I can confidently say that navigation in unfamiliar lands is a difficult process, indeed."

The raven squawks, flaps its wings and rises high into the air, scouting for the slightest hint of danger.
"I don’t feel comfortable or safe without my scythe, if I’m to be honest with you, but you can't go around carrying a weapon if you want to remain invisible, can you?"

"An introduction seems fitting, so, please, allow me to introduce myself – I am Grey."

((I'll wait for the others to post before I do, I just wanted to speak out of character for a moment.

Grey introduced herself, which is a polite formality, but something I never explained but have been gradually elaborating on, is this diving power of "Knowing". Grey would more than likely Know who Elatha and the others were upon seeing them, even if she had not ever heard of them.
However, an introduction is still a polite act, and wouldn't be considered out of place or unnecessary.

Because I realized I never fully elaborated on this ability to "Know", and because we have new players, I added a small piece to the second post on page 3. It explains the "Power of Knowing", and might be useful.))
