And while it is true that you end up shoving a sword through the main villain either way, if you side with the vampires you get to replace that villain.

Ironically, my character became a vampire because of what the Dawnguard said when I tried to bring Serena to the castle (Something along the lines of "get us information&quot ;) . What's my reward for being a mole and putting up with Harkon? Constant harassment.

I call lawsuit.

They said "get us information."

Not "become the very thing that represents everything we stand against, and then run errands for their king."

Big difference, Westenev.

In all seriousness though, I must question the legitimacy of the Dawnguard as an organization. A standing army that answers to no authority? And who pays for all these fancy fort renovations, armor, weapons, trolls, dogs, and crossbow bolts? I wouldn't trust them. At least the Vol**har keep to themselves.

I hate all of you people and your sickening enthusiasm. It makes me want to join stuff that I know I won't enjoy the character I make up on the spot for after a week or so. Done in by the dubious doings of destiny.

It's not like they weren't aware there was a cure in Morthal, they certainly reminded me enough when I turned - do you headhunt a double agent just because they put on the opposing armies uniform? At least they learned one thing from the whole ordeal - notice how you never see a lone Dawnguard agent sent on an important mission when you're a vampire?

I think it's assumed Isran, despite not being very well liked, had quite a few connections in the vigilance. He only has a blind hatred for vampires, and as anyone reputable could tell you, that is all he lives for. At level 10, the hall is destroyed and vampires are attacking holds, so it takes no leap of the imagination where he's finding the gold to quickly refurbish the castle.

I liked the Dark Brotherhood storyline.

That was the only thing I bothered doing in Skyrim.

That is all.

Teefs guild was better. Or college of winterhold - at least both of those involve skewering thalmor (to some degree)

Actually, now that we're on the subject... where does the College of Winterhold get its funding? There is no way the village of Winterhold can pay enough taxes to keep it running (even if they wanted to) and the two closest communities are anti-magic. Because it is a snowy wasteland, all food is going to have to be shipped - probably from Whiterun or Riften, which will cost quite a bit.

Is there a national tax that all citizens across Skyrim pay to keep the College going? If so, what does the College actually do aside from poke around ancient ruins (stuff that adventurers do on an everyday basis) or mess around with spells? Seems like a huge waste of government spending that could just as easily hire soldiers to deal with the Dragon, Vampire, and Thalmor Menaces.

Being the only magical institute in skyrim would have its perks, I suppose. The court mages seem to have some level of affiliation, so without it skyrim would lose a big war asset. Obviously there are Nords (and Thalmor) clever enough to see this.

*grumble* but...but I don't even know what to make. maybe someone who...(and here the thought process begins but not really because I already know 90% of the character concept and don't want to admit it)

OK FINE YOU CONVINCED ME I'LL TRY

I'll probably go down multiple routes that I never take: male and non-magical.

Except Angle will ban me from his threads forever if I make a male character...damn.

Ah, so the Dawnguard are profiting off of fear, then?

On a side note, there's one thing I didn't get about the final quest where you lay siege to the Vol**har castle...

Why can't you call in a bunch of other allies?
"Hey Balgruuf, I saved your city... wanna float me some troops?"
"Oi, Ulfric/Elisif, I ended your civil war... you have troops to spare, right?"
"Hey, Companions, you are werewolves and vampires are your natural en- oh wait, only the Circle are Werewolves. *Ahem* Hey, Companions, these vampires are a menace and we cannot allow them to prowl our lands."
"Hey, every companion who has ever promised to follow me... follow me!"

I mean the vampires are a threat to everyone, right?

Edit: Oh, and as for the cure... yeah, it exists, but that doesn't mean you should change from vampire to human like you change a sweater. It also requires you to kill someone.
