As for Christianity, Jesus preached peace, love and forgiveness, he does beat people out the temple and advocates petty theft once.

According to the Bible. Of course you're going to paint your Saviour as a hero who hardly ever does anything wrong.

Whereas in Islam... torture... slaves... child murder... I'm not sure who is the worse criminal to be praised in this case.

I'm honestly not sure what Islam has to do with Christianity. If I kill one person, can I justify my crime by saying: "But that guy over there has killed six!"?

Anyways, we have strayed too far from the original topic. Which is:

Original message details are unavailable.
Romans are very open to foreign sorcery and magic, even of the demonic kind, with some cults worshipping demons and demonic beings. Some even worship the coming blackness, others prepare to survive it.

I think Annie has the right idea here. Let's all just worship cookies.

Think about it: when was the last time a cookie actually killed someone? How many people were actually killed in the name of cookies? Do cookies ever actively encourage you to commit morally questionable acts?

The world would be a much better place if we all just worshiped cookies.

I'm not painting Jesus how I want, I am referencing his nature as portrayed in scripture.
Luke 14:26, Jesus says, “If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.”
I disagree with this completely in a literal form, and if Jesus said that, I would disagree, it was wrong of him to say that. In this case, he did wrong, so I'm not sure where you got the assumption I was painting Jesus. Everything I said about him can be found in the bible.

Islam was influenced by Christianity, hence why the Quran is a plagiarization of the Old and New Testament. Prophet Muhammad spoke kindly of Jesus as well, as alluded in the Quran. The Quran acknowledges Jesus as the Messiah, however, the Quran also says that anyone who believes Jesus is the son of god will go to hell. No, you can't justify murder by saying someone else is a serial killer. Don't you think demeaning a man who did barely anything wrong is justified by shrugging it off and saying nothing about another man who is portrayed as a psychopathic criminal?

I'm definitely interested though. As I still am for Guthix's thread. And Azi's thread - which I'm still yet to write an excuse for.

Err. On that topic.

LOOK! LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE! *Runs for the hills with Annie's cookies in tow*

Azi, this is the comment you were originally responding to:

What about the Roman Empire? I thought you said they had cults.

Yeah, like Christianity, whose followers worship a dead criminal.

Note that at no stage was Islam brought up. That's something you decided to include into the conversation yourself. No one was making a point about Islam. Your whataboutism isn't addressing the issue, and as Annie has alluded to, veers awfully close to something mute-worthy.
