As for me, my car can't start due to the cold snap, and my pipes are frozen as every winter they do. No water or car for several days thus far XD another Canadian winter.

Just saw that they're apparently taking down the forums. I haven't been around much [or at all really] but damn dude, seeing it finally coming down is really something. I spent much of my adolescence and some of the most formative years of my life coming here pretty much every day from say 2006 to roughly 2015, met a lot of awesome people over the years, some of whom have become lifelong friends, learned how to write compelling fiction by running my threads/posts by an audience. Even published a novel as a result, though I really don't write at all anymore as it has mostly fallen by the wayside. Occasionally I get the itch even still but life usually finds something else to throw my way.

Anyhow, it's kind of odd to me that they're even bothering to take it down, I figured it would be up until Jamflex went bankrupt or something but I can't imagine moderating a pretty sparsely populated forum takes up a whole lot of time or resources. But, it's their website so fair enough.

I might not hang around much anymore but I hope the people who still use the forum to this day can find a new not-terrible home for their writing/roleplaying. Also glad that Jamflex gave people some warning so that they can archive all of their stuff.

Anyway, if you knew me back in the day or we RP'd, feel free to hit me up some time. Always down to swap some war stories about the "olden days", my Discord got caught up in a ban wave so I haven't been in touch with much of anyone.

Some of my favorite memories from the forum are etched into my memory permanently. I remember the first thread I made, 'Infection', in 2006. It was about as stock and crappy as one can get and a very stereotypical zombie thread. A real highlight were the prison threads and Cold Streets, which got me banned on a weekly basis but were extremely entertaining. Another highlight is White Trash Circus, a thread about a rock band, and all of the other random and usually unconventional threads the LADZ would make.

The David Carson Series, started with Trouble in Frontier County, went to Blood and Gold and finally Hard Times which eventually had to move to Google Docs were another highlight for me. Really gave me a liking for western fiction and the setting of the old west in general, and I believe it was my longest running continuous thread, started in December 2010 and was semi-active until 2016 or so. Cold Streets, a gang thread, wasn't particularly continuous or long-running but had roughly 40 'sequel threads' and the prison series started with Prison Life in 2007 and went on perhaps too long. It would pop up, get banned and turn up again a couple weeks later like a bad penny. Mod Mark H was no fan of mine I suppose, but he turned out to be a pretty cool guy and I hope he's doing alright nowadays. Same goes for all of the forum mods, though we certainly had our quarrels and differences of opinion.

Some of the names I remember best: Laser Skunk, D F Angel, Karkingjack [RIP], Jedi 92892, Joepresty, Darragh44, Lady Kayko, Ttocs, Merky, CaptLasky, Jason Vane, Chocobroco, Fperson, Marine825, Kruker, Tri, Sir_Murray93, No Bull, Tigerruby, Callums2, Murder-X and Nauset [best mod] and don't be mad if you're not listed here because there's absolutely no way I could list everyone I remember lmao. I got through a lot of very shitty times and terrible years thanks to the forum, the people listed here and so many more besides. Some of the people listed were basically a second family to me for many years, I remember a whole bunch of late nights shooting the shit on MSN and particularly remember playing a shit-ton of COD4 with No Bull right after it came out.

RP and writing used to make up such a cornerstone of my life but like so many other things, gradually drifted away for various reasons. But, I still remember most of it.

Anyway, thanks for the memories, good luck and God bless. Sad to see it go but I guess it was inevitable and I haven't been helping much with the inactivity.
