Yeah, something like that.

I forgot to mention, but another RP idea I had is an outgrowth of my old supernatural serial killer ideas. Basically, this new idea is set in the near future world, of which certain people are like catalysts of evil corruption, which gradually allows horrible things to happen.

Users role-play as ordinary people (or people with specific occupations) who are inevitably met by aspects of this evil, but with a twist: users must actively resist the GM (me) as much as they can, but while this occurs, the user's character are granted permanent supernatural abilities (if they don't already have them), but with another twist: the GM, who controls the evil aspects, can also jump in to temporarily control the characters' powers, for good or ill.

The quest is for users to work together (if possible) to combat certain enemy NPCs, who also have access to supernatural powers, but are either inherently evil or misguided whilst unable to truly free themselves so must be eradicated. Users must defeat these evil NPCs by any means necessary, with opportunities to get them killed indirectly (there will be chances to see the future, such as involving police, gangs, accidents, acts of nature, or encouraging certain organs to fail).

The role-play I felt was peculiar as both users and the GM are meant to actively resist one another whilst trying to complete the opposing objectives. Of course, there would be Perks and traits to allow users certain abilities or opportunities to resist or intervene, or to command aspects of supernatural abilities only to do whatever that needs to be done.

Overall, I'm not sure if anyone's interested or if there's eve enough people for it to work.

So I am posting on Vampyro for Annie since she needs a distraction from real life events, I am still taking a break from it to get the paper done, but I did not want to send confusing signals. :) Just your friendly neighborhood gay boy! =)

Your definition of "cute" is a little... xD

I've always been interested in corruption stories, which is a good thing because it tends to be a staple of the JRPG genre. Though in JRPG's, the "evil" that haunts protagonists tends to be less malevolent and acts on a more primal level (ie. the "evil" spirit fears death, or has a purpose that is misunderstood by the protagonists like "ending the world" ).

But, yeah. You're not wrong that this forum is a little empty.

XD dance, Soviet girl, dance! The tanks shall crush the Hungarian rebels! The Poles shall not get their worker rights! A threat to anything within the Soviet bloc is a threat to everything in the Soviet bloc! Dance, Soviet girl, dance!
But ya, this Sovietwave is a fun microgenre of vaporwave, it has this very old school feel for sure.

I also like corruptible concepts. Western art with corruptible themes tend to be destructive for the sake of destruction, whereas Asian art tends to be a bit more nuanced for sure. Even in my own mythos, Spirry is the main corruption, though he out-corrupted what corrupted him, becoming even more brutal. He's so addicted to sadomasochistic violence that his presence induces that same mindset. He believes that suffering is the meaning of life, so if everyone loves violent suffering, the solution forms. I like evil to be, well, evil. Nevertheless, I understand it's not for everyone, and it seems more and more people aren't interested in hopeless severity.

Yeah, the forum's seen better days. Sometimes I miss the users I used to RP with, but life goes on. The future here seems bleak, but I'll stick around until we've finished Vampyro at the very least. After that, well, we'll see what happens!

I may have gotten a new idea for a RP, one we haven't really worked with. I was thinking of something like this:

We roleplay as prisoners on death row (regardless if innocent or not), each of us having a severe mental disorder or something remarkably extreme either in personality or supernatural abilities. By supernatural means, such disorders manifest into powers one way or another, either already in the bio before the RP starts or bestowed later on.

Basically, the RP revolves around opposing forces who use their powers to take over the prison then duke it out. Opponents would include crazy prisoners, prison guards, and later urban spec ops and supernatural entities. The initial RPers will be aided by GM NPCs and their powers. Basically, as evil forces wish to seep into the world, we gotta work together to keep it restrained within the prison, less it goes into the world and dooms us all.

Overall, a simple concept and one I think would be fun to work with. But we'll wait and see.

Kinda gives me Deadman Wonderland vibes, although I think DMW was loosely based around the private prison experience amped up to 11 (corrupt guards, prison politics, people being falsely imprisoned for things they obviously didn't do because profit over fairness, inmates being forced into supernatural deathmatches which is streamed and sold as a subscription).

Problem is, I can't really think of a motivation to save a world that put you on death row besides something soppy like family or love. Moreso when you're essentially being groomed for slaughter.

I never heard of that, is it an anime? The main inspiration came from Shadowman, a retro game loosely based on the comics, but there was also some inspiration from BioShock and (of course) real-life serial killers and true horror stories.

XD I don't blame you; my RPs tend to have a strong element of hopelessness. But yes, if you want to survive, you gotta conform to evil in this RP I had in mind, and indeed, save a world that condemned you. It was meant to sway between extremes, challenging the purpose of morality and survivalism in such an environment. Essentially, a prison within a prison. But oh well, no worries.
