1) There's a part where Malus' bio mention he was captured many times, or been one of the few survivors after a failed campaign, so he was meant to begin the RP alone.
2) Makes sense, seeing as Malus basically loses control of himself which causes self-damage. Even in the lore, he inevitably loses his own soul, a consequence of his ambitions. His Warpsword, for example, ends up consuming all his blood until he's just a soulless husk. We can rationalize that, the more cruelty and violence he performs, the more blood he himself loses, a result of centuries of slaughter and his cursed weapon, and demonic soul within.
Due to the nature of his bio and where it comes from, his distant family and homeland is basically plunged into never-ending civil wars. He's an experienced commander and admiral, but it's hard for him to get ahold of any stable source. He's more of a loner type who hates everything who just happens to be highly skilled.
Also, I forgot to intro him last night, will do so soon.
Oh, and I forgot to emphasize, but Malus' mindset is broken. He was planned to argue with himself, have mental breakdowns, and get lost in hatred, leaving him vulnerable until the desire for violence erupts or gets him into vulnerability.
