Well then, I seem to be wholly ignorant of RS deities, I miss the old days when Zamorak looked like Satan, Saradomin looked like an Abrahamic prophet, and Guthix was a floating jelly fish skull.

Guthix being a universal constant was my favourite thing about the lore, which has now been removed. The idea that as the embodiment of nature, he'd just be reborn if you tried killing him, and that everyone who sees him only sees what they imagine an almighty god of nature to look like, and not his true form.

What I don't get is how Guthix is a Tier 2 God. The only other known Tier 2 Gods were created directly by Elder Gods. We know little of the god he killed, but even if that god was Tier 2 why didn't he just leave his body like Zaros did? Guthix would still be a god, just not a Tier 2 God.

So unless Guthix went on a god-killing rampage (unlikely when he didn't even kill Saradomin, the first god to lay waste to his homeworld) across the cosmos before eventually discovering Gielnor, I don't understand how he could have acquired enough power to be on the same tier as Zaros.

Actually, scratch that - he was stronger than Zaros, since Zaros couldn't penetrate whatever barrier he had around Gielnor. And assuming Zaros and Seren are of the same strength, remember that Seren blew herself up because leaving would harm her followers and Guthix wouldn't let her stay, meaning Guthix had the power to forcibly remove her if required.

So I ask again, where did all that power come from?

And as far as I'm aware, Zaros doesn't care much about Zamorak's betrayal anymore.

It's clear he is at least somewhat upset by it, as evidenced by his refusal to talk about it. He may not care for revenge but getting beat by a mortal like that probably made him a bit ******. Let's not forget he had thousands of years to calm down.

I think FOT* 2 (confirmed runefest content) is going to have Zamorak and Zaros finish the job - so the gods aren't quite as mellow as they would have had you believe.

It's also why Jagex seemed reluctant to kill Zamorak at the end of WE1, whereas they would have been perfectly happy killing off Saradomin.

Well, in Dishonour Among Thieves you can tell Zamorak that Zaros is back, and Zamorak is basically like: "Oh crap he wants revenge, what am I going to do?" So I would imagine Zamorak launching a pre-emptive strike against Zaros to prevent an attack that isn't going to happen, resulting in the two fighting, and whoever wins depends on how you helped or hindered either of the two gods in their respective quests.

Zamorak is basically the god of *****-ups at this point. Getting betrayed by Saradomin, Armadyl, and Bandos, nuking an entire continent, losing the Battle of Lumbridge... things have not been easy on him. It doesn't help that Zaros was going to leave his empire to Zamorak and Azzanadra anyways (I seem to recall one of them memories in Fate of the Gods saying that, though I could be mistaken.)

In short, I hate Zamorak almost as much as I hate Saradomin.

As for the Battle of Lumbridge, my theory on why Saradomin won is that everyone sided with Zamorak first but switched sides so they could get all the rewards. I seem to recall in the early days Zamorak was in the lead

Heh, so much lore, too little time. I once referenced the Stone of Jas in one of my stories, in The Gothic Wolves I think. Someone used the Stone of Jas to create a foggy otherworldly realm, consisting of vast pillars, floors, arches and such that shifted; they rumbled to spell out "god" in Morse code.

It eventually led to a dark, transparent, shadowy realm of which the sky was a single immense monster with many dragon heads on the ends of necks, as well as hanging scythe limbs. It housed several glass cubes that could change shape, which could manipulate the shape of the world, as well as open gateways into other dimensions. Undead Temple Knights, who were beaten and then tortured to death, were trapped in the realm; Black Knights were briefly mentioned to be running around, presumably escaping the same fate as their White counterparts.
