Seriously though, Mercadier betrayed a Mahjerrat, and Mahjerrat are basically the Zamorakian equivalent of Saints and Angels. He also used Kinshra soldiers to do it, so I imagine the smartest thing for the Black Knights would be to denounce Merc and declare him a traitor. Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.

XD Looks like Mercadier does a good job at splitting factions apart!

Good point for sure, I never even thought of this. Fill in the blanks however you please! Of course, declaring the Black Knights and Dark Warrior with him as traitors would also make sense.

Is Mercadier good or evil? This was deliberately a grey zone; it’s up to the individual to conclude if he is good, evil, something in-between, or both. Each of my three villains have different motives, and so develop different kinds of characters.

Haraldur was a classic barbarian, he was motivated by glory. He was not an evil villain, but was a villain based on the path he chose and the circumstances that unfolded. Glory and defeat are parallels, after all.

Mercadier is motivated by what he feels is right, even if it means getting around rules or codes or expectations. He is strict and merciless for the sake of justice. His view of righteousness is so extreme he performs evil. Justice and tyranny are parallels, after all.

Vortiger is motivated by ‘teaching them darkness’, or the desire to show the world what evil truly is, despite once being a Temple Knight and so a holy man. He is evil for the sake of showing evil, which is his redemption, his way of finishing his penance. Forgiveness and apathy run parallels, after all.

My three villains are meant to foreshadow my fourth villain, if I get that far, plus a second hero who joins later on.

But ya, np, Riniya, update the census whenever you can, no rush!

"used to be"

I mean she was literally spying on them before the battle started, so "still is" a spy more like.

Though to be honest even if you do I'm not entirely convinced any of them would care too much, mostly because nobody has any idea who the Black Hand is. As far as I've been able to pick up from the many times you've used them, they're a random assortment of spies who... Watch random people? Write what they see in notebooks and then return it to HQ for... Some reason?

I mean... They;'ve never really DONE anything, they're just sort of neutrally watching people and hoarding their random assortments of information.
I am Inferi.
