A more comical role-play with crack fiction is not out of the question, but it seems nobody's interested.
The dystopian role-play I have in mind is more of a dangerous cityscape to survive. It would have Imgur images from Half Life 2, Fallout, and near future art concepts, to easily get the points across and represent the world easier.
Not sure if including AvP/Weyland-Yutani and early, simple space travel would fit (space travel mentioned, only involves resources and science; unlikely to actually be part of RPing). Also stuck on how to have supernatural themes, but was thinking of Biotics from Mass Effect, seeing as that's the closest thing that fits both supernatural and a modern environment, without actually having to describe too much.
Was also thinking of 'dark energy metamorphosed', which refers to people capable of temporarily opening up portals that connect to our world, basically the Xen from Half Life but I would search Imgur to find other images with portals. Opening portals may even trigger the Apocalypse, which carries the RP into the next phase. May also use demonic themes, as there's a few Imgur images that show both demonic and modern features.
Basically, the role-play is divided amongst chapters that represents phases that change or impact the world, also gradually exploring and broadening the RP, which may take years and have turn-based time limits:
Awakening (users intro and begin; problems with governmental and corporate entities)
Pre-Apocalypse (users discover something catastrophic; more dangerous entities appear)
Apocalypse (users must survive global catastrophe; citizenry now a threat)
Post-Apocalypse (users must restart their lives in the ruins of the destroyed world)
Reunion (rival entities also survived the apocalypse; time to settle the score, once and for all!)
Salvation (users must save a portion of the world, or at least find new meaning)
