So barriers, tranquility magic and light/searing light magic. How old would a human have to be in order to achieve mastery in all of them

Well, even offensive light magic would still be part of Tranquility, and would be included in almost every cleric's training. Mastering Tranquility would take, at minimum, ten years.

Mastering barriers from the Generic school would take five years at minimum, and this is assuming that you only focused on barriers and were an excellent learner.

For combat training I'd say add another five years.

But then you must consider that your character won't be training constantly: at some point when they feel he's ready they're going to be sending him out into the field on church business (exorcising spirits, smiting undead, dispelling curses, rooting out heresy - all that good stuff.) The rest of his training would then have to be done between missions, so I would say add another five or ten years because of that.

And in the end, your character is going to be at least forty.

If you want him to be younger, then you're probably going to have to make some concessions. For example, saying that he has mastered the offensive side of Tranquility magic (searing light, dispelling curses), but still has a way to go before he masters the healing side of it.

Pretty sure all you'd need to do is make a simple spell to teleport an equally small amount of water off the planet continuously.

I know you're not being entirely serious, but I would just like to clarify something: while teleportation is entirely possible, it is only short range, and the longest recorded distance of a teleportation spell is just shy of one hundred metres (three hundred feet for you metriphobes.)

Edit: That said, I will also confirm that, if left unchecked, Inferi's magical canteen is perfectly capable of dooming the entire world.

You're correct, I wasn't being entirely serious, as there's likely far better ways to deal with it.

However, that is a very useful fact for someone who actually can teleport, so thanks for letting me know.

Fish, do you have a preference on how I’m introing here?

Not that I’m typing it up at this moment, mind you. I just want to know for when I have the time.

A tavern would be ideal, since that's where recruitment is happening, but it's your choice.

Why is it usually in a tavern?
I've known a few scenarios of meeting in a jail cell.
Though random encounters out in the middle of a forest or while traveling do occur.
But rarely hear of a party meeting up in a brothel.

Because taverns are neutral public spaces that can seat large groups of people, as well as serve refreshments. If the tavern is also an inn, then travellers will be staying there, who presumably know how to hold their own and are used to long journeys. Furthermore, the people there are usually somewhat inebrediated, which makes it easier to rope them into joining your quest. Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.
