I noticed there's one setting that this community has not really delved upon very much: dieselpunk. Is anyone interested in a dieselpunk RP? I was thinking of a phase-based role-play, which begins in a more civilian environment, then goes towards a First World War environment. Users do not necessarily have to RP as soldiers, and there are fantasy themes, too. The RP would be a mix of First World War environment but greatly expanded, Bioshock, some bits of Warhammer and Fallout, fantasy themes, and anything else me or anyone else can suggest.

For example, it can begin something like,

In a more civilian environment, users could begin the RP as, say, street criminals, detectives/private detectives, bounty hunters, mobsters, workers, or what have you. Nationalities do not interfere with RPing.

Then progress towards,

Here, users pick their class and go to war. Nationality may decree which side you're on, and so may ensue PvP. Users who RPed as characters who were once enemies, may end up becoming comrades, and must work together to fight to the death or what have you, which would be an interesting formation of a friendship.

Since story, character development, and character interaction are critical, I think this is a useful setting to focus on story-driven role-play. Oh, and this is basically the spiritual successor of Broken World.

Dieselpunk is basically a post modern look at the ww2 era, isn't it? Advanced technology which branches from our own, because nobody invented the Transistor, Nuclear power never became a thing, and the great depression never happened. However, it is the age of cool zeplins, cool cars and cool battleships...

Depending on how it falls together, it could be a cool concept.

Yes, that's basically dieselpunk. It's usually a mix of the World Wars, zeppelins, primitive mechs, industrial themes, and that sort of thing. Since Wake Up seems to be dead, and I have no active RPs here anymore, it's time to start over, and see what happens.

But yes, as West said, it depends how it falls together. I was thinking something like this:
The role-play begins in a civil environment, approaching a looming Great War. During this 'punk' phase, users role-play as mostly-faceless characters who have little impact on the world. This phase could include punk themes like bounty hunters, private detectives, mobsters/gangsters, mafia families, corrupt nobility, witch hunters, or what have you, which may be involved in causing the Great War.
Since RPs need to be story-driven, we will develop the RP from the user’s backstory, but I’ll also include at least a few fully-storied protagonist-like bios myself and see what happens. Will also gradually include major and minor factions that influence the role-play as it progresses; this will limit how much we need to read, only offering what is necessary when it comes.

The Great War begins. First World War setting. Ignorance, hordes of youngsters sent to their deaths, chaotic battles: tanks, zeppelins, biplanes, cavalry, trench warfare, chemical warfare, bayonet charges, armoured soldiers, etc. Users may be drafted into the military, and those who once may have been enemies may be forced to work together, which could be interesting. Also, I think the idea of Deathclaws and mutated things would be cool to face.

After the end of the Great War, we return to our civil lives, probably emotionally scarred. However, it’s not the end. A dieselpunk World War Two is up ahead; if we make it this far, we may have to rejoin the military as veterans. Advances in technology, Wolfenstein-like, Holocaust, Resistance (users who are non-military will end up being part of the Resistance or surviving the Holocaust), beginnings of nuclear warfare and nuclear reactors that create Ghouls/Super Mutants (maybe), espionage, etc.

Although unlikely, a dieselpunk Cold War could occur, but this would progress into a more Fallout-esque role-play, which may not be necessary, but we’ll see what happens.

Magic themes tend to be Plasmids or Vigors from Bioshock, but more supernatural themes are not out of the question.

However, I don’t want to be selfish, so I am open to suggestions.

I've personally never played Bioshock; I mean, I've had the chance to buy it before, but it's always clashed with a game title I wanted more.
