I'd go apeshit too. It's almost like the world conspired against him without any resistance...
Oh, wait, it did.
I do find it interesting that no matter how the inquisitor plays through the plot, there is literally no way to weaken the inquisition. There is literally no too soft or too hard, and your decisions only ever seem to affect the moods of your inner circle.

You do see a bit of this with the War Table missions, but overall it's a disappointment.
It could have been like it was in Origins, where you get to choose which forces to bring into battle depending on who you allied with.
For example, if you read the Masked Empire, you would know that Briala controls the Eluvians (until Solas overrides it, of course.) Gaspard has the chevaliers, Celene has... uh, her words?
There's also the Mages, the Templars, and so on. Oh, and don't forget the various minor group you recruit like the Bull's Chargers or the Blades of Hessarian. It would be nice to run into them at some point.
Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.
I don't really mind it so much; It's not the Inquisitor's job to go where the fight is most bloody, it's their job to go where it'll hurt the enemy the most. It's important to realise that RPG protagonists are often only the tip of the spear, not the body. Nobody wants to risk the inquisitor's death before the final battle.
