Secretly I just want to derail the thread by romancing Inferi's character into an emotionally and physically abusive relationship that the author tries to downplay because true love.
Actually, from her backstory she looks perfect. For some reason, indipendant women in literature tend to be considered broken until they can find a man. This is especially so if the woman in question is far beyond her peers (making her socially awkward), has a dark past she can't forget (her sister dying) and lingering identity issues (did she pick up the sword because she liked it, or because it was something of her sisters?).
