... This seems like a reoccurring theme I don't understand in media. Why would the citizenry openly antagonise monsters they fear might kill them? Quoting this so that it's not lost, in case anyone wants to reply to it.



Indeed, obtaining a sharp, pointy thing isn't hard. People have been using sharp little pointy things to kill people for thousands of years, after all.

The type of monsters I'm talking about are immune to everything but the series version of Kryptonite. They have a hyper regeneration factor, the strength to impale humans and they reproduce by infecting humans with their bodily fluids.

... I don't think militia's, body armour, stocks of weapons or knives are the answer you're looking for. ;)

If a person had the time and the patience, they could just sharpen a stone or wield their own kukri. It takes a couple of hours (much less with power tools).

The thing is... what makes a knife any more lethal than say a baseball bat?
