From what I can tell, Avatar pasted lightning onto firebending due to the Choleric temperament of Firebenders (the unflinching desire to do what they want). Only those with strong desires can cleanly separate their yin and yang. Doing so allows them to collide them together into an electrical discharge, similar to when electrons pass between an electron donor and receptor.
In Avatar, only those of clear minds could seperate their yin and yang. Attempting lightning bending without such training would usually end in a firey explosion. Under the rules of Avatar, I don't think Annie would be able to use lightning bending.
I might be wrong though.

Bridgett tends to brood on a single goal or idea, or so I thought. She will tend to ignore peripheral information if there is an option to charge ahead, expecting others to do the same. In that regard, I think I played her correctly.
I wasn't really trying to criticize your decision, just wanted to make a joke.
Most apologeticly. I didn't realise.
Jokingly. This is why I suggest speaking like Elcor.

Can I keep the lighting?
I suppose so. It's just kinda sloppy that you tend to not mention your "rock shooting" or lightning blasts in your bio. What I had in mind, is that users describe initial power(s), and stick to it. It's not a big deal, but just saying.
I wonder how Gun's RP is going.
Oh, so that's how magic works in Avatar. Not that I understand any of it.

I like how Avatar looks at bending. It's about art, personality, martial arts and training rather than "hur dur, I have powers". Something Legend of Korra took and trampled on.

"hur dur" made me chuckle. In my works, magic tends to be simple. An electromancer can utilize one's magic due to electricity in one's brain, and one's organs behaving like the electric organ of electric eels, for example. Other than that, any other kind of magic relies on "the consciousness connects to the laws of physics, allowing manipulation of the natural world" as I can't think of anything else.

I think it's cool when you can liken a power to something physical, but that is more of a modern mind-set. Before we could prove things physically, we had to prove them metaphorically. How a person uses or perceives their powers can sometimes be more interesting than the power itself
In short, a lot of people go down the rabbit hole of explaining the specifics of how magic works when they really shouldn't.
