Oh, I suppose I should probably note that it's not cold rain. I know that isn't enough to prevent people from developing problems due to extended exposure, but it does make a difference.
That... actually makes things simpler. That being said, I imagine windchill would rip through ordinary wet clothing. If the clearing had a dip, the increased windspeed could be especially lethal.
But can my character learn how to fight in the future?
Depends on what you mean. Will she ever be as good as any of the rest of the cast? No, probably not, unless it's something they don't have much experience in right now either. Will she be able to do...something? Yeah, probably, although it really depends on what it is as to whether or not she'll be any good against some of the higher-tier opponents.

It doesn't. My picture of the whole forest area that they're in is pretty flat. There's a few hills, but not many, and none that would give an increased wind velocity at the crash site.
Done in by the dubious doings of destiny.
I don't feel comfortable posting on APTtS atm - if Bridgett responds to anything, it'd be like denying several situations that would kinda retcon my post if anyone were to pursue these conversational paths.
If that makes sense. It probably doesn't, since I'm kind of having trouble keeping track of the conversation in the room.
