If you were to pick one hero from any medium, whose abilities do you most admire?
Daud from the DLCs of Dishonored 1. He can stop time, teleport, see through walls, use force-pull on people, summon assassin helpers, jump really high, run really fast. And those are just his supernatural abilities. He's a master swordsman, an expert at stealth, and has several different gadgets, such as a wrist-crossbow, mines, and grenades.
Corvo has similar powers, only he can't force-pull and instead can wind-blast people and summon swarms of rats.
Then there's Emily Kaldwin and Billie Lurk from Dishonored 2. Their powers are garbage.
Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.

Hmm. That's strange, since one of the reasons I like Mass Effect is because characters have their own stories behind the scenes. They are effectively protagonists of their own lives, even if we only see things from Shepard's point of view.
If we're going by actual protagonists, Vega got his own animation about his failed mission with the collectors in ferris fields (Mass Effect: Paragon Lost). I'm pretty sure the Illusive man, Saren and Anderson got a book or two too explaining how they came to be.
I mean, it's no wonder The Illusive Man was so paranoid. He knew about the reapers a good 20 years ahead of Shepard.
Interesting points, as always. Yes, many characters have backstories in Mass Effect, which made them seem real.
Peculiar, I had no idea The Illusive Man knew about the Reapers for so long, definitely adds intrigue.
As for hero powers, I'd choose Kibou's, since that's the only one I like.
