If you'd like, although I'm curious how exactly he would be able to deal with it at the current moment. Not only does he not really have a weapon, he has a princess to protect, and these monsters, like I've mentioned, are like normal wolves when it comes to retreating.

I was thinking it would be a combination of luck, the environment, the slow-time thing, and clever use of his makeshift staff.

I think the slowdown is hitting Gareth as well, based on Inferi's post.

It is, but it would still improve his reactions because he can see an attack coming and has more time to plan.

Is that how it works? It's a bit of a weird one, since Bridgett and Travis were specifically not affected while Harambe and Annie were, and you were mentioned as being affected.

Sounds like someone was on team harambe, but missed.

Y'know, I've wondered about this - if you saw something in slow motion, would you still be able to stop it? Your reactions would stay the same in real time, and in your own reality, you would have to spend longer focused on the same goal which allows for hesitation.

My own conclusion is that if you're not used to it, it would make a person perform worse.

Ok, so I'll see if I can clear this up a bit before I leave to go to bed. The way this effect works is through a zone of control, Basically, it's an AoE, and everything within the AoE is affected by one of two effects: normal speed or slowed speed. The only people moving normally are the caster, Chloe, and the people she designated, Bridgett and Travis. Everyone else is moving slowly, although mental faculties are working at normal capacity for all within the AoE.

So, theoretically, yes, it could be used as a psuedo-reaction-speed booster. However, even if you know something is coming, when you're moving at a snail's pace it may not be possible to actually get yourself into the proper defensive position in time.

And as for what West just said, I tend to agree. Everything not moving as you are used to, even if you know it'll happen eventually, is not something someone that is not used to would be able to perform well through.
Done in by the dubious doings of destiny.

Honestly, I think the remainder of this video explains everything necessary for a good horror, especially when applied to actual characters.

What’s with the wizard’s big googly eyes? He looks retarded. CHUDUGUGNGAGONGLAU. Oo, Cthulu, I didn’t expect to read that in a Japanese cartoon. Let me guess, they actually decide to kill the kid anyways? lmfao what just happened? You don’t even see anything, lame.
(...Big googly eyes look so retarded, what on earth were the animators thinking?)

Anyways, I understand your point, West, shown with the dialogue. This scene reminds me of the ending for A Nightmare on Elm Street, which follows a similar theme. I somewhat disagree with the freshness point, however. I personally find approaching and concluding into doom scarier than freshness or hope. However, there’s also different thinking of Europeans and East Asians.

For me, what scares me most, is a detailed and realistic expression of suffering and madness. For example, watching Begotten for the first time did scare me as a kid, even though it’s not a horror film. Made the better, it was made the same year I was born, and is based on a near-death experience, which adds to its own value. The opening scene is quite memorable:

(you don’t need to watch more than a minute)

Regarding of slowing time in APTtS, it’s like Stasis from Dead Space, but with a Matrix! That’s an easy analogy, I think.

... Honestly, I can't tell what's going on. There's a guy bleeding out into a mask, and... a lot of weird images? O_o

I'll be the first to admit, this definately isn't my cup of tea.
