Six foot under probably won't be enough to avoid detection. RADAR can go up to four hundred miles (I think), and SONAR can up to five thousand miles (I think), and both can go quite far through solid surfaces. I think it takes a few feet of solid concrete to stop RADAR and SONAR, and only if you are extremely quiet.
Of course, if someone were to go in the sewers underneath a busy city, there'd be so much traffic it'd be quite difficult to pinpoint a single person.
Remote bodies? Not sure what those are. Yes, most robots probably are controlled conventionally, but the idea of putting a soul into a robot I thought was pretty cool. However, since it costs like a billion dollars, it usually does not happen, so very few robots are Soulmechs.
