That was fast, I did not expect people to comment about my PvP system so quickly!

West, p2363
Yes, metal does conduct heat very well, but an open flame, or a fireball, would just flick against the metal surface. What I was thinking, of plate preventing open flames from seeping through and burning the body.

I figured it’d be important for people to be happy to run crazy fast, but I sure can lower it.

next post,

A 10 AP is the base points.

B 5 are recovered, but you don’t recover beyond your base.

C Yes.

D Depends on the weapon; you can use different styles. For example, you could use half-swording rather than swinging.

E Depends on your opponent's height, weapon type, and if Equipment Mode is used.

F I could move the magical affects there. Bleeding only appears in Endurance Mode. Poison, disease, and psychological issues felt too slow to be worthwhile in a fast-paced combat, imo.

G Yes.

H It leaves them vulnerable.

I To reduce difficulty, I felt it was necessary to spread the three modes across, in case a certain one did not want to be used.

M Metal armor tends to be good at fire, as what I had in mind was fireball attacks, open flames, that kind of thing. Chances are that an armored person isn’t gonna stand in an open flame for any more than a second. The Defenses are meant to be in regards to short-term attacks.

about your EDIT,
That’s surprising, an anime handbook definitely wasn’t what I would expect.

Oh, and before I forget, my PvP/E system had some inspiration from MYFAROG, a role-play by Varg Vikernes. Unlike his system, well, you don't need to read an entire book to understand it XD

Keep in mind those were my first observations with some opinions, not clarifications. If there's anything important that isn't on that list, I feel the people here would gloss over it.

Also - the Yugioh anime was actually based around trying to sell trading cards IRL, not the other way around. The problem with the first iteration of Yugioh is that the fans didn't know how to play, and neither did the writers for the anime or manga. It doesn’t help that sometimes it seems like the ones who make the card effects and the guidebook were completely separate entities, leading to many cards being banned from use. That, or people began to make their own custom rules.

Take that for what you will.

Ohh, I see.

Interesting, I had no idea. I definitely thought the cartoons came first, then the card game. I don't think I ever played Yugioh cards, but I did observe it once, and had no idea what was going on. Heh, so, one of those games that nobody knows how to play, not even the creators. I guess, sometimes, letting players create their own games and rules is the best option, it has its merits.

Anyways, I made a few edits to my system in response to the things mentioned. I also added brigandine/coat-of-plates to armor types, as I forgot that. I have not yet added poison, as I don't really know how to work with it. Historically, poison kills you within seconds, but how would you consume it during a fight? I guess it could be a form of execution, heh, but it would be redundant. Diseases are just not really important. Fear, well, we're supposed to be heroes! I will also add that the three modes are not absolute, they only serve as guides or examples, there's always room for adding other features, ignoring features, and adjusting how things work.

I imagine people would coat arrows or melee weapons in poison prior to a fight - though, admittedly, such weapons would lose effectiveness the more they were used and carry a risk factor to the user. If you were willing to use something like Batrachotoxin (a touch poison found in some species of Frog), you could almost immediately paralyse someone from a mere scrape. Said person would die within 30 minutes.

There have also been tales passed down of people who refused to clean their blades in order to cause irrecoverable infection (Germanic Celts, I'm looking at you), or Archers who dipped their arrows in the ground (or worse things) before firing them into the enemy. While not immediately noticeable, such weapons would prevent repeat fights.

I am really bad being tb. I might lock my thread.

I don't think anyone is good at being tuberculosis, Annie. :P

Sarcasm aside, what's the problem here? You can't figure out what happens next?

All your points are reasonable and work very well, West, as always. I could incorporate at least poison, why not? Even though this Batrachotoxin seems pretty OP, eh, w/e, it's perfect for stealth characters.

Or duels. First hit wins. :P
