Hmm. I don't think we were using parachutes, Annie. While I'm not clear on what these Descent Packs are, I *assume* they slow down a person’s movement without need of a canopy – so there’s nothing to get caught in the trees.

It's essentially a backpack with a matrix system inside that uses air pressure to create a counterforce that slows your descent. Much more compact than a parachute, and better when it comes to landing...well, almost anywhere. Done in by the dubious doings of destiny.
