The gear is being pulled out only a few seconds before, and by the time he pulled it out and got it ready she'd already be out the door.

Also, I don't know how much it would affect him, but with the winds that they can now tell are whipping around outside I don't know if anyone would think it was actually a great idea to bail anymore. Of course...there's not much of an alternative, but still.

In all seriousness though, I'm not sure what he would do. I'll have to think on it. He's meant to be cautious, but there isn't a single option that isn't reckless in some way.

Fighting back will get him shot, if he surrenders they might shoot him anyways, and if he jumps out he might die out there as well.

My original idea was that he would strap on the gear, then while Annie and Ben are distracting the soldiers and soaking up all the bullets he would help the Princess put it on, then they would both jump out.

I might have to put this decision off until tomorrow.

Hey, don't let me try and convince you one way or the other. This is rapidly going in directions that I wasn't planning on, and I like that quite a bit, so do whatever you think would make the most sense.

Coincidentally, since he's supposed to be a smart guy, I'll let you know that the bailout gear can hold the weight of two people at once, although one person would have to have it strapped on while grabbing hold of the other. Just something more for consideration.

Can they have the gear on but not pulled?

I mean, sure, I guess, but that won't do you any good.

Also, you've already posted, so leave it as is.

There's no space to write it in the post, and I don't want to ruin that epic page-turning cliffhanger, so just assume that Gareth dropped his book before he made his decision.

Also, just pretend he did this as well:

(no I'm not being serious with that last part.)

Glad I could trick you assist your decision making so you could make a wrong good decision.

Should I also assume he activates the gear at an appropriate point, or are we just gonna freefall and hope it activates on its own?

That was my original decision but I wasn't sure if the bailout gear could take it.

Anyways, given what Gareth knows, the only alternatives are:
A) Fight back and get himself killed.
B) Surrender and turn the princess over to be used for nefarious purposes.

This is all Grey Greg's fault to begin with, anyways.

Affirmative.

Well, first he'd yell for her to do it so he doesn't have to let go, and if she doesn't he would try to do it himself.
