Sorry about the delays, guys. I'm having trouble finding butt to seat time, and when I do, I'm in no fit state to write!

I'm expecting the first post by the weekend.

Uhh, azi, that really isn't how it works! Life jackets won't save you from the torrent, and boats would be washed ashore. Best thing to do would be to make an easy to carry survival kit you can reach in less than 1 minute, and head to higher ground. Preferably before the warnings, if it is a big quake.

If it takes a while longer, it takes a while longer, don't worry about it.

I'm pretty sure a life jacket would increase the chance of your survival, but ya, there are torrents, and waves can still crush you against things. Indeed, it is best to head for higher ground before the danger comes. Earthquakes appear suddenly, and are difficult to predict, so it's safer to be ready for all threats coming from the disaster. I also read that, you can tie a pair of shorts at the legs, blow in it, and it becomes a makeshift floating device, or something like that, though I wasn't able to try this myself.

Honestly, considering the sheer forces involved in a meter tall wave, floating really is the least of your worries. And if the water didn’t immediately crush you, current will hold you down, lifejacket or no. You'd be better off finding something to break the initial impact.

All a life jacket would do is make your body more noticeable to search teams (which is, in fact, the primary purpose of a lifejacket - depending on who you ask). I wouldn't rely on them, especially in uncontrollable scenerio's where they could bobble up and potentially snap your neck.

I'm just saying. Every second you spend fastening a lifejacket is another second you could be using to run for your life! Getting away from the shore definately takes presidence over safety equipment, since you're unlikely to win against a tsunami.

Yes, of course, it's good to say these things, to see what we can figure out. Having a life jacket is better than not in flooding-based disaster, at least in my viewpoint, it's a suitable backup or means to slightly increase your chances. Even after the tsunami or flooding ends, or you are well beyond the affected area, there may still be a lot of water near you. If someone else is in trouble, you can also throw your life jacket to that person too, for example.

Speaking of which, I think we really need natural disasters in our role-plays! I did plan this a few times, but never managed to get to it. I think having to fight NPCs/monsters, and then surviving the wrath of nature, could make things way more exciting.

In other news, there is some tension about kneeling before the US flag. Personally, I don't like the concept of kneeling. A slave kneels, a warrior stands (so be a warrior). Nevertheless, America gives you the right to refuse political and religious expectations. Freedom of expression is, after all, a basic human right that should be respected. Though, I suspect the NFL will become dying corporation, and footfall a dying sport, but at least there's REAL sports, like MMA, ACL, boxing, and what have you.

Speaking of which, anyone else find it a bit odd that so many people freak-out about sports that just involve running around with balls?

Considering the origin of ball sports came from kicking around Frenchie’s heads, no, I'm not at all surprised we enjoy watching people kick balls in Roman gladiatorial arenas.
